A-class 180, options?

Supposed to vary the rpm and engine load during run in. And don't exceed 2/3 of max rpm ie 4k. And don't downshift to engine brake. According to the manual.

What I did was to alternatively accelerate at light load and moderate loads. But got hit redline for a few times. For a few seconds each time. Because in theory that is supposed to let the piston rings bed in more quickly

See &  See is slow to update. Dont worry, be patient. Dont rush into buying  your dream car.

See & See got fat margin, so do your homework before hitting the showroom.

In order to show "sincerity" in "buying", bring your cheque book along and place on the table while negotiating with your SA.

Nego, hard and firm rather than aggressive.

Put credit card on table can?? Hahaa

Guys, when u first get the car, c&c will do a nano sealant for u. Is that sufficient or do u guys still go outside and do another layer of coating? There's a few of these sealants I read on this forum, like the dust will slide right off kind? Lol

Main purpose for me is easy maintanence as I'm getting a black car and I don't want it to look dirty every other day !

I am also keen in the A180, what can I negotiate for?

Can ask for higher trade value for the car? I heard from my friend who went there they gave him around $7K above his paper value. Can this be stretched?

What else can ask for free? Car mat? Insurance rebate? leather seats? More service credits?

Following is from a previous posting:

For A180, I think the standard would be :

- with loan - $3k service credit (barely enuf for first 3yrs servicing at current prices), huber optik film, floormat, dent removal, reverse cam (local fit), some car essential plus package (not sure what that is now)

- overtrade of 4k to 7k for old car

- any other freebies that you ask ... "can pay using service credits" would be the response ... hahaha

Can lah. Come to think of it, I use credit card for the downpayment but only limited to $10K niah.

The nano sealant can only tahan for 6mths, after 6 mths the effect worn off.

After 6 mths, I did my own claying, polish and then sealant but not as good. Going in for the next free nano sealant next week

Car mat already provided, leather seat (I doubt), more service credits (possible), also ask for the Pick up and return service (each trip is about $50)

For me, I pushed for overtrade so the rest of the "freebies" got discounted.  :jig:

I shall try to  ask for the following on top of the freebies

1) higher overtrade

2) More service credit

3) How much do they charged for retaining my carplate?

4) Is leather or Fabric better? Is it hard to maintain fabric? Never had a fabric seat before.

Guess I should've come to this forum before ordering an A180-style last weekend.

Didn't expect the missus to ask for my CC to swipe the COE deposit, before we negotiate for more freebies.

Only managed to push over trade of our current car from the advertised $5k to $6k + another $1k for taking their AIG insurance.

Also didn't manage to test drive the car, so going down again this Saturday to test drive, need to pass the car deposit to the SE, as didn't bring cheque book and don't want to max out my CC.

This morning sms SE to check on COE bidding, told me since car arriving only in Sep, they haven't bid yet.

Think booked liao, they a bit bo chup, wonder if still got chance to get them to throw in the dashcam, since COE dropped $2.3k...

More or less there already. Its all a total package, they give more here, you get less somewhere. Depends on what you want more.

Going in for the next free nano sealant next week

Free Nano sealeant re-coat provided by C&C ? Is it under the Car-Essential Package Plus in Sales Agreement or a separate line ?

once signed & paid, its hard to negotiate. but you have not paid deposit so still got chance to ask. just make sure SE go through every single detail with the car (eg lights, seats, tyre type, what is different to the showroom model you see), loan terms (what is rebate value, what is the penalty), indicate clearly the delivery date

PS oh, u paid just the COE deposit.

PPS if Sep delivery, CC shld start to bid already ... but COE falling perhaps they confident of securing within a couple of bids.

Yup, only paid the COE deposit, as yesterday was the next COE bidding after the day I booked the car.

I'll remember to make him provide the delivery date as he only told us Sep'15, and no more red with black interior, so we settled for white with black interior.

The white center seat cover is a no go, as my youngest kid is still a 15-mth-old baby :P

Will also push for the dashcam before I hand over the cheque for the car deposit.

Freebies already listed in my booking form:

- Service credit of $3k

- Huper Optik solar film

- Locally fitted reverse cam

- SCR x 8 trips (saw someone wrote that each trip is worth $50)

- Extra set of 3D floor mat (wasn't shown a sample, will ask to see on Saturday)

- Head support cushion (also didn't see the sample, hopefully it's with the Merc emblem)

- Car essential plus, which should include PDR x 6 dents, 2x polishing, 1x air-con cleaning, 1x interior cleaning

Anyone getting different freebies, care to share?

i received 2x nano sealant, one during collection an another one written in sales agreement.

got only 2k service credit as i push to higher trade in value. we all know there are workshops that provide similar service which are much lower in price.

Ya, was only allowed once to pay 10k with credit card. Wanted to pay part of the balance with credit card was told cannot :/ so dictative.. Lol

Ya for A class especially a180 style it's an entry level merc so the package is kinda limited. On top of the standard package prob just another dashcam and/or gps, if u don't take those then u can have higher overtrade.

I think once u signed and paid the down payment (full or partial), hard to ask for more things.

U can always try asking, but I feel u r at their mercy already once u signed. Lol

They give 2 free nano sealant, one they do for u before they deliver the car and the other one u need to use within 1year. Separate from the essential care package I think.

Pika pika rain proof? Good? How much and how often need to re-coat? Guess I will use the free nano sealant for the 1st year (6mth once)

Don't worry about Coe bidding, MB always get the Coe. Important is when u buy (how much is the Coe when u sign the car)

So run-in, in short is just don't drive the car too hard for the first 1500km la?

Hi Guys,

Need your advice

Can check when you trade in your old car to get the current special A-180 promotion price, C&C will get valuation from their in-house second hand dealer - REPUBLIC AUTO ya?

Question

1) if you know "someone" from Republic Auto - will that help to improve the resale price? - by quoting a higher price - is that possible?

2) how much leeway can your SA give on your car over-trade? $1-2K more then ask their Sales Manager?

3) as a example, if i am driving a 7 year old Jap car, with 100KM on it, market (SG Carmart) selling about 40K. How much can i realistically expect C&C to offer me? roughly? how to bargain for higher? - please share tips

does original bodykit help? Sports Rims? ICE - Speakers & Woofers - or all no use?

thanks !

Do you get really irritated by the shift points of the gearbox? Drive behind a 4-speed jap car and you'll find yourself accelerating when the car in front is changing gears, and vice versa.

And at 0-30 kmh the car is too busy shifting through the gears to do any actual acceleration. Thus it feels slow.

Normally, the car has lots of engine braking. But when the gearbox is in D7 at 70kmh, engine braking is nonexistent and you have to brake for downhills while the cars in front don't have to.

I'm surprised by how annoying this gets.

Sorry, just had to rant.

Have you tried the reset ecu trick? After I did mine the car now behaves like a diff beast. Shifts up and down when needs to. No more hunting gears

i would suggest that you check your car residual value at one motoring for a base then compared to the value at sgcarmart.

when i was asking around for trade in value for my c30, all if the 3 dealers sharpen their knife sharp sharp, maybe because it has only 2 doors.

so at see and see, i laid my trade in price and nego from there, eventually get 2k lower.

in summary, all of them did not look for what other add ons that i had in my car.

hope this help.

heidtb - reset ECU done by CC ? will have to keep that in mind ... hurtling downhill at 70kmh on free gear is not something I want to experience

rick - I think default overtrade offer is $4k if getting A180, then anything above Manager's approval needed. Maybe you can tell them you definitely dont want loan, then see what they offer to entice you to get the loan. Then say definitely dont want insurance, then see what else they offer (if not offered already). CC took my car's paper value as it is, without further evaluation ... but not sure if its bcos it is currently a mercs. For my case, others I have enquired only prepared to offer paper value so CC's offer was the best with the overtrade.

Heard Brunei Motoring lowered prices already. If can tahan, maybe hold out another week to see if they really run special promo
