Yr type is refers to tyres rite? Also i presume yr car & tyres is the same age & yr mileage now is 38k. One year 10k is consider extremely low usage. Anyway, U can check the tyre nodes is it flush with the tyre if yes is time to change it. Go google & read up here is one that i found might able to give u some idea.

Its time to change, though your mileage may not be very high. Many factors determine the condition of your tyres, eg rotation every 8-10k km, even wear etc.

Tyres harden over time. Normally I will change my tyres 2 years or 35,000km though can last 40,000km Whichever comes first (kiasi, kiasu).

bro Barney!

I concur with you about >2 years tyres hardened over time.

Experienced twice - hardened tyre exploded on the move!

Twice lucky - managed to pull to the side of road and came to a safe stop.

Actually the 2 times happened on my Pleasure Island Prado.

What's ur rim/tyre size? Comfort, performance or in between?

actually i am not sure, it is the stock rim it either 16 or 17 i guess. Looking for comfort, not racer boy just want it to be quiet that is all. Changing in July after insurance renew if i am keeping the car. Maybe getting a MPV or mini lol.

Try CSC5, not CSC5P. If budget allows, go for Michelin PSS. A good compromise between comfort and performance.

If you're looking for comfortable and quiet tires, one tire that hardly gets mention is Conti Extreme Contact DW. Had it on my previous ride and I loved it. Almost couldn't hear the tires on the road and decent grip on wet roads. Not that ex also. Also if you have any lobang with tire shop locally, just order your tires from Tire Rack in U.S. and get them to ship it to the tire shop. Hard to believe but after shipping costs and gst, you save about 25-30 %. I've done it a couple of times already. Normally takes about 3-5 working days to arrive.

hi Guys,

My ride is about 36k km and came with stock CSC3 from C&C, and I saw cracklines on two of the tyres. I have used CSC3 for my previous ride and never encounter this problem before. Got it changed yesterday but was deciding to switch to Michelin PS3 but the shop did not have the stocks on hand. So, went with CSC3 again.

Anyway, the price for PS3 is higher than CSC3. buy 5 pcs of CSC3 for 4 pcs of PS3!!

As above bros have shared, general rule of thumb is anything between 30,000km to 50,000km or more than 3years. Also it is dependent on many factors like driving style, tyre brand/type, etc

Or based on physical inspection of the tyres , check for cracks, tear and see the tyre thread indicator:

Hi there this question is asked heaps of times and the consensus view is between 40-50k km. BUT THIS IS NOT NECESSARILY CORRECT.

The lifespan of the tyre depends on several factors like Terrain,  Speed, driving habits etc.  In general if you drive only in singapore and seldom exceed 120kph for extended duration the 40-50k km estimate is applicable.

If you are driving regularly on NS highway to Maylasia and maintain speeds of 160-190kph for extended drives, you will need to change the tyres even at 20k km mileage.  AND if you are going up and down Cameron and Genting with lots of braking lifespan of the tyre reduces also..

The same logic applies if you go sepang and track the car regularly cause the car is driven at higher speeds and the bitchment and road on the track tarmac is designed mainly to increase tyre grip....

The most extreme example i can think of is the F1 drivers who do 60 laps in 2 hours (about 300km++) as speeds between 160-250kph with lots or hard acceleration and sudden braking...the tyres have to be replaced just after barely 150km into the race....

Hope that helps...oh by the way there are also different grades of tyres you can buy and some have higher speed tolereance than others but also provide a harder ride...the tyre grade also affects the life of the tyre...

Agreed!! My mileage only 26k and tyres wear is gone. I m on Asy2.

I wonder this qsn as well....is it only when Thread is finished left <20% den change or mileage? My dad changed his tyres after 100k servicing on his car....

Btw he use stock tyre

The world Most dangerous thing is the Vehicle. Its not about the machine weather its slow or fast. Its the person who is controlling it. The driver is the brain of the Machine. Not the machine itself.

If the driver reacts slow even the most powerful ABS(Auto braking system) will not help. The driver has to give the car the command in Order for the car to react. Afterall he is the brain of the car.
