Soz, side-track (but related):

Whats the long-term effect of a body wrap like what kongzz has on the paintwork? I can see this as a built-in jiao sai repellent as well as easy for car washing duties!

I showed my wife the photos and she is actually OK. I may just be able to do this too!

I went to JJ today to collect my grille (jes, James said I missed you by a couple of minutes!) and I asked him about the body wrap. Quoted $1.5k for a standard Matt silver, takes about 3 days for a c sedan.

BUT then he poisoned me and showed me brushed metal finishes (alumnimium, titanium and a lighter metal look). That will take same time as normal but costing wise he said have to buy own material and he will only charge labour.

The material runs at $60 per meter and he reckons will take 15 to 20 meters for the sedan. I leave you to do your calculations.

But he showed me a gallardo done with the brushed metal. I got very wet and needed a change of underwear.

I've always been curious too about the after effects of such wraps. Say after 2 - 3 years we decided to remove it, will the original paint be spoilt and need a respray? Or a simple polishing will restore it's shine?

HYM, got GB for this anot? Where is this JJ place?

He OMO, earn mostly labor charges, how to GB?

I'm still doing desktop research on full body wraps since I don't know of anyone who has actually done it before.

Hi, if you guys are doing wraps, i only recommend using 3M graphic wraps.. higher quality, less likely to tear, easier install.

If you are currently on factory paint, it will definitely not peel off or hurt the paint on a mercedes.

If its a respray, there might be some peeling.

I used to have it wrapped in Matte blue, when i peeled it off, paint was still perfect.

In US labor cost is a killer so it might be slightly more expensive. For the materials cost, it is $950 USD....

total cost including labor is 2500 USD

sold liao... supporting your forum ma! hahaha

but the evox really fun though haha....

ivan you damn gangster la. i thought you sold the E? still keeping it ah?

and i concur what you said, use good quality (i.e. 3M) stickers if you intend to do a full body wrap. used cheap stickers on my jap cars last time.. the paint came off with the sticker lol. had to respray the car.. would have been cheaper to go with 3M right from the beginning..
