Tomorrow will call C&C and ask for updates on their HID conversion package.

Keke

heard from the servicing agent at C&C that they will be launching the HID conversion package soon. Currently still undergoing trials to rectify technical issues.

Hi

I just booked the E200CGI

One thing that is tough for me to swallow is halogen lamp on such premium car ( though E200 is basic entry)

I asked the SE whether HID can be retrofitable by C&C and she said no.

So, can bros here clarify and validate whether this is true or just rumour only. if it is, I would be keen to have it fitted before delivery.

By the way, what is ILS conversion

pardon my noob question

hey R, welcome to the forum!

ILS refers to intelligent lighting system. http://www.daimler.com/dccom/0-5-1301676-1-1281471-1-0-0-1302066-0-0-135-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0.html

Conversion means the fitting or changing of the ILS headlights to replace the stock halogen lamps that came with your vehicle, and this is more complicated than it sounds, as you need to synch other components such as steering control so that the ILS can perform optimally.

oh, as far as i know, the HID cannot be retro-fit by C&C.

pls correct if i am wrong, ya?

If thats the case, I might resort to going to site sponsor to install HID kit.

Well so much so for saying retire from MOD... hhahaha..

ILS is a major work although it seems to be just a headlight. There are other components mentioned earlier such as synchronizing with steering input for the beam movement. An additional video camera is fitted in front of the rear view mirror beside the rain sensor. This is for the auto high beam function. Headlight washer is included in the front bumper as part of ILS.

Hmmm, it seems lots more cons than pros. Will monitor these issues closer before battery goes flat and headlamps get burnt.

I reckon that HID will be the way to go..

The stk halogen bulb is 55W and many of these so called "white halogens" many of them are rated > 100W.

High current draw & high temp is not good!

Agreed. My last ride not only melted the socket, it's created smoke than stain the inner cover. no choice Cant reach inside to clean the smokey eyes and eventually need to change new entire headlight cover.

I also learned the hard way!

One of the bulb exploded inside of my Toyata Prado fog lamp!

Had to change the whole fog lamp when the car was <2 weeks old!

F$%k out the high wattage halogen and changed to after market HIDs.

HID kit is good, used for a few years with no problems..

I've been using after mkt HIDs since 2000 paying as much as S$1K+ from Korea mfg Supervision.

After Mkt HIDs have got better, reliable and cheaper over the years.

The downside is not LTA approve!

Cheers
