Can put brake on "Hold" at traffic junction

Hi all, tried to search for this topic using "Brakes on Hold", "No need to depress brake pedal" etc but no appropriate results hence sharing it here.

When we stop at traffic junction when the light is Red, we can depress the brake pedal slightly harder and the Hold will appear on the instrument cluster and we can release our foot from the brake pedal. when the light turns Green, just accelerate and go.

Well, there are safety consideration and some may feel better depressing the brake pedal physically. do try with caution.

Sharing this feature for those who still do not know.

I drive a 2009 E230.

U can either depress brake again or accelerate will deactivate the hold function. This features is same for C & E class.

Agreed. This is one new function over my previous preFL C180 that I really enjoy using. It gives you a slightly quicker roll off as you don't need to take foot off brake pedal to the accelerator.

This hold function deactivates for me only by accelerating. I cannot deactivate by depressing the brake again because the brake feels like it is jammed.

Just press onto the brakes and it'll release. Might be different for SLK.

something funny. gf activated it when i let her test drive the car. i didnt know w211 has the system ... then i ask ...HOW U DO IT ... how come for the pass 5 yrs i cant do it. TIP and trick ... gotta slam the brake quite hard ... LOL. i'd be better w/o it to be honest =S

I can't. Tried that when I first got the car. The brakes felt super hard and jammed. Hold doesn't release that way for me.

Yrs is C class FL model? If yes, is possible, do a double hard & quick tap on the brake at stop. Its will hold for sure.

Bro BM, mine is R172 SLK. HOLD function works as a single quick tap for mine but doesn't release when I step the brakes again. Need to accelerate to release brake hold.

this was observed:

when the car stopped at junction, the speed will drop to 0km/hr, at this point, you can tap the brake lightly and Hold will be activated. If the car stopped briefly, abt 5secs, then need to tap the brake twice to activate. the Hold will deactivate when you accelerate, mine will not deactivate by tapping the brake twice.
