Need help:

Oil leaks in areas circled in brown (right above Supercharger)

1) Is this normarlly caused by faulty Supercharger ? (mileage is ~85,000km, 2006 E200ML)

2) If not, what are the potential problem ? (ie : gasket or seal need to be replaced)

Thanks in advance.

Hi WML888,

Looks like you have a commonly reported problem with the M271 engines. If I'm guessing correctly, you probably have a cam sensor oil leak. If you make a quick peek into each cam sensor wiring harness, oil may have already started seeping in.

Should just be a routine change of o-rings, rubber seals, cam sensors (if needed). This will be the updated isolation wiring part no. you will need to purchase in addition to the rest of the parts - 271-150-27-33 (x 2 pcs). Best to just change the lot as it should cost around a couple of hundred dollars, maybe $500 mark.

Check yr engine oil too see whether is it kopi with milk color or not, if yes better send it for overhaul.

Update :

Just changed the seal at cam sensor, and added Isolation Wire (to nip the butt of future problem, if any).

Good that I spotted the leak at early stage, and fixed it.

Thanks again for your help.

Did a quick research :

Isolation wires (2), to prevent future leakage, (271-150-27-33)

Cam Sensors (2), to stop the existing leakage, (271-051-01-77)

O-ring (2), installed with cam sensor, (010-997-23-48)

Rubber plugs (2), installed with cam sensor, (271-051-00-32)

Thanks again.

happened to both my w211 and w203, since both using same 271 engine. $500 fixed it all. better fix the leak before the oil seeps into the electrical components

After changed the seals (and cam sensors, if needed), would be good also to add Isolation Wire (no chance for any oil sippage into wire hardness)
