Car too low, Stop car

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Wonder if anyone has such a problem?

I noticed that my car became very low after parking overnight.

The whole car body became very low.

So much so that the top part of the tyre is covered a bit.

The car indicator will state in red "Stop Car, Car too low"

Then i have to press one of the botton on the dashboard that will move the car body up.

I've also sent the car for repair but after sometime, the problem surface again.

I'll try to take some photos to attach.

Any solutions???

I can't find any of the moved past threads where this issue was brought up. I think its up to the mods and other veterans now.

Does yr car comes with airmatic suspension system? also how old is yr car? Likely yr airmatic issues.

Ya, i also think it could be the airmatic problem. Saw some feedback from MBforum re the strut leakage related to airmatic.

Orh ok!! How i wish my can "talk" to me too!! Like "sir, chio bu infront of u" then if i didnt response within a minute the whole car will vibrate!!

Yep good 'ol airmatic.

If you've previously sent your car in for strut replacements, chances are they may have reused some old components like rubber boots which may have gotten torn due to wear and tear. That may be a possible cause of pressure leakage. Otherwise, the other possibility would be the air compressor for raising/lowering ride height which is faulty.

At least it's reasonable to replace nowadays. Back then when spares were limited, I remember the bill in the $15-20k region for 4 airmatic absorbers.

Just to add, if you replacing the entire airmatics suspension is better that u purchase directly from local distributor or get afew quotes from site sponsor workshop & compare pricing etc. If u choose to go back to agent for repair will cost u an arm or leg. Good luck.

Ahh.. This is a familiar problem. Lemme guess, you are driving the S-Class?

This is the airmatic suspension problem. And it is a very common problem for the S-Class, the other common problem for the car is the gear box issue. I have seen many S-Class with this suspension problem. I think it is an inherent design problem or sth as there are many people complaining on overseas forums as well.

To repair just one suspension at CnC will cost about 15k. Hope your car is still under warranty then it will be replaced FOC. Right now you should stop driving immediately and get the tow truck to drive it to the workshop.

Just had the same issue with my S280L, noticed the extreme front low height yesterday morning and took it to my mechanic today.

Airmatic issues as well as the hydraulics front suspensions.

Repaired in an afternoon with a slight dent on the wallet :(

Just to share. My w220 got problem at the right rear side. Was being advice not to jack it up cos this may stress the system causing more leakage. Anyway, I got the rear strut replace as my mechanic told me that the pump still good as I don want to cause more damage to the other related parts. Cost me $1.8k for the 2rear strut.

Mine a s280 2006. Not sure any different with 2004 make but believe only facial difference. So you may want to try chip soon auto at tampines st 93 (behind Sara tampines) . Look for Daniel or Jason. Very friendly guys.

I did my servicing and change of parts there for the past 1 yr. they manage to rectify all the faults and basically replace all ware and tear parts. My colleges 523 has a water leak which cannot be rectify by PM also solve by them.

Mine is 6 yrs old now. but the thing is no warning ever came up coz i spotted the issue early and managed to drive slowly to the workshop at sin ming.

btw, i would advise not to continue using the car or risk damaging your tyres and the inner chassis over prolonged periods. I did note the louder air release sound "PSSSHHH" everytime i go over uneven surfaces, esp humps when the airmatic went down.

pm me if you still need my workshop's contact.

No idea of mechanics in Jurong except C&C as I reside around central.

I am wondering if you hear your tyres rubbing against the inner chassis when you turn sharply? also do check your tyres for inconsistent wear.
