BTW, anyone knows when the entire new C Class model will be out? 2013? From the looks of it should be, cos current C Class was launched in end 2006 if I remember correct. With a 7 years Model cycle, 2013 sounds about right isnt it?

The 7 yrs theory is from bmw as for mercs is 7 yrs itch. This C class is just facelifted so got to wait for another dont know when changes.

I saw the interior of the new 3-series. I find it more posh (traitor you say... yes...) than the current C-Class.

Richard Hammond from Top Gear recently said it's the best car ever made.. "three mendous"

"Their cars are not about cutting edge, brand new technology, breaking new ground, pushing things further," Hammond says. "Their cars are about doing what's already known...and doing it extremely well."

Have you tried using something a little thicker say 50 weight with high shear stability like Millers, Selenia Racing ? Might help with oil consumption.

The new 3 is very roomy compared to the current C when I went to see last week. A big improvement from the previous model..

Pricewise, more bang for buck with more features included. But MB are known for reliability and low maintenance. Depends on what you are looking for.

I must have test driven a different new 3 then. The interior is not really that much bigger than the FL W204, and the dashboard, while a BIG improvement over the E90's, still isn't as good as the FL W204. What they are superior in would be the engine, the transmission and the driveeeeeee.

(then this ah peck picked the W204 for the trade-in offer, the resale potential and the logo. )

Oic lol. Yeah I think as you mentioned there was just a facelift last year, so I guess there would maybe be another 2 to 3 more years to go?

I did try using 50 weight and still the same. Now sending in to check for issues such as PCV valve or the are there anymore leaks which I do not know off. Topping up 1 litre of engine oil every 800+km travelled is no joke. I have a 4 litre pack inside my boot standby man.

Yup indeed the new 3 is more spacious than the E90. The rear entrance has been widened for easier entry. But the interior is only marginally more spacious than the E90 and not really very much more spacious. I pretty much like the interior but the car doesnt really age well in terms of reliability in the mechanical department. The workshop I went to repair my car, kept telling me, Merc use gaskets for sealing instead of rubber seals which is what BMW uses. Therefore mercs will not have serious leaks like BMW and gaskets supposedly lasts longer and even if it leaks, its only a seep and not drip dropping like what BMW engines would encounter. Spent quite a fair bit trouble shooting the leaks over the pass 6 months plus, change this change that but the leaking problem seems to have just gotten worst.......getting abit sian liao. So considering whether should I make a change to Merc for a try.

Hi, oic so you are driving same car as me. Yes the 320i is driving me crazy. I replaced an auto transmission, many oils leaks and serious engine oil consumption now. Relli driving me bonkers! I still have not made up my mind whether to change or not.

I quite like the new F30 3 series but am very concerned about the reliability factor and the cramped rear seats. As you mentioned, 2 persons seating behind is fine, but if there are 3, all 3 will be very uncomfortable.

Comfort wise, yes I do agree, MB is much better. My E90 super bumpy and twitchy over all singapore roads lol.

mine was a E90 LCI. The facelift model. also a lot of headache. how much did you chg your transmission?

My transmission was changed under warranty but if out of warranty, the mechatronic and transmission itself is almost 10k. Excluding labour.......or so I heard from my SA. Scary.....

Haa haa, Im not rich man, so I must calculate carefully first. So far hows the reliability of the Merc you are driving now? My E90 was problem free for first 2 yrs plus....only 3rd year needed the transmission change. So i very worry change car will have reliability problems....headache lol

I was driving w204 c200 since 2008. Last year backside itch changed to a 320i msport. Though it is a 2000cc engine but very very lagging. Not only that, road tax more expensive, fuel consumption also high, no power, here tug there tug sound. Very very regret, until yesterday really can't tanhan go to C&C to book the C250 amg package palladium silver which now display at level 2. Now just looking forwards for my new baby to be in my hand.

Oic, for me I still find it quite acceptable but when you really push the car, it is indeed quite lethargic. Congrats on your new purchase! Enjoy your new baby!

Thanks. If you try the previous w204 c200k, you'll feel the different between 320i and c200k. MTL

Dear All,

I'm new here. I'm currently driving the 3 Series, 320i. I am thinking that the C Class should be launching its entire new model in 2013 or 2014?

My current 320i is almost 5 years old and I have driven the car since it was brand new. I maintain it religiously to ensure it is in good working condition. But since late last year, alot of oil leaks, issues, etc.

I am curious and wish to learn more about the current C Class model. Has anyone here driven the car for like 5 years also and feedback on the overall reliability of the car ?

Thanks in Advance.

I've switched over from BMW E46 318i almost 6-7 mths now (wanted to drive till 10 years =)....) but cannot make it...too much repairs...need to top up engine oil every mth...blah...blah...blah...loving my new FLC180 now...even on stock (1.6L)...feels zippier even w/o sprint booster...mai tu liao...

Yup, Im getting tired of all the repairs and downtime of my 3 series. Will see how first ya .

Go for merc, you will enjoy the ride.

For c class, if fine with 2 door go for the coupe..nice! :)

I Love sedans lol. not a fan of coupes though :)

Had both Merc and BMW in the family before. Mercs are better built. More lasting too. Cheaper to maintain (plenty of parts and pricing more reasonable than BMW) But Merc doesnt offer as 'enthusiastic' a drive as BMW. Image projected is also different. Merc more conservative/'ah pek'/traditional, BMW more hip/'cooler' more for a younger crowd... but all that is changing with newer models and customer profiles.

So its really what youre looking for...

Thanks for the advise. Maybe after my trip, I will drop by to check out the C180.
