Thinking of Changing to Merc

Dear All,

I'm new here. I'm currently driving the 3 Series, 320i. I am thinking that the C Class should be launching its entire new model in 2013 or 2014?

My current 320i is almost 5 years old and I have driven the car since it was brand new. I maintain it religiously to ensure it is in good working condition. But since late last year, alot of oil leaks, issues, etc.

I am curious and wish to learn more about the current C Class model. Has anyone here driven the car for like 5 years also and feedback on the overall reliability of the car ?

i am not too sure. i am also driving a 320i currently but am awaiting for my C class. the reason i chose c class over the new 3 series is because

1. i dont like the new design.

2. i dont like BMW interior, be it 3, 5 or 7 series.

3. comfort is better on c class

4. BMW centre back seat is hard and causing problem to ferry one more person.

5. 3 series seems to have problem with oil leaks, gearbox issues and many minor problems.

6. i think (IMHO) that benz should have less problem.

7. i dont like PML customer service/technical advisor.

Mercedes cars better resale value and confirmed Tested engines.

Hi bmw & mercs gtg is held on the same date & timing. Do come over & ask as many question as u like. Make them yr fren u might get a free taxi ride. Mercs is more refine than bmw for most model, except AMG class. U will hate mercs for steering is too light ( no feel) but u will love it when u are in a tight carpark. The butt feel is nicer (not raw) compare to bmw. Anyway, hope to see u during our gtg, if u are shy bring yr whole family or neighbours along .

Hi, oic so you are driving same car as me. Yes the 320i is driving me crazy. I replaced an auto transmission, many oils leaks and serious engine oil consumption now. Relli driving me bonkers! I still have not made up my mind whether to change or not.

I quite like the new F30 3 series but am very concerned about the reliability factor and the cramped rear seats. As you mentioned, 2 persons seating behind is fine, but if there are 3, all 3 will be very uncomfortable.

Comfort wise, yes I do agree, MB is much better. My E90 super bumpy and twitchy over all singapore roads lol.

I do agree on the better resale value. Does MBs require periodic topping up of engine oil??? Or simply just need to drive and drive?

I did not drive the 3 series and have not driven my mercs, because still waiting for it mah. But, this is the mercs forum, if you ask anybody here whether or not you should change to the c class, the answer would be a definate YES. No doubt about it.

haa haa yeah. Reason for posting here is to hear more about real life user feedback. Both BMW and Mercs are nice cars, I like both but after having the bmw for quite awhile, feel like jump ship to try out Merc.

Im using Liquid Moly 5W 40.

Must be cooking oil

BTW, anyone knows when the entire new C Class model will be out? 2013? From the looks of it should be, cos current C Class was launched in end 2006 if I remember correct. With a 7 years Model cycle, 2013 sounds about right isnt it?
