The base of the WT takes an input source of 12v, so any ciggy adapter with the std ctr +ve jack would do the trick.

I believe PSP charger pushes out 5v or 7.?v

You dont need a special charger unless u intend to charge the lithium batt direct.

I will lug ard a few of these adapters to share ard for the trip. anyone who has a std ciggy adapter, pls bring along at the meetup. I will try to solder the correct adapter for u folks.

err can someone fill me in. The last time I read abt touch & go, u need to pay some deposit for card ala our MRT card (eh call wat ah) then each time u top up also got handling fee<- At SG Maybank teller...

Tio bo ? seems a bit of charges for some minor inconvenience...

Is just a deposit of 20RM and personal particular in case of card fault or refund,if dont mind the refund,anyone can help buy on behalf, add money can do at ATM Maybank Malaysia but you need to have a account there.

The only thing here is whether we need a regulated 12V supply to the base unit. Anyway I have a whole bunch of accessories. Mini lead acid, 7.2v (3.3AH) batts(direct to WT). I will try to sort out all the stuff & lug them down to the meetup.

Ok I have managed to strip apart the WT & tested a few batt combi. I think this the best option if you dont play RC cars. Buy 1 male & 1 female ciggy adapters, cut the AC power adapter wire to 2, female socket goes to ac adapter & male ciggy adapter connect to the wire socket going to WT base unit.

This way we can lug along only 1 eqpt for long haul trip & still charge WT while in car or at the hotel.

Bear in mind that it will take abt 4 hrs for a full charge.

Personally I feel that a spare batt is necessary if one drive alone & yak a lot as the base unit is light & th WT is heavy & it is pretty difficult to slot the WT back to base unit while driving.

So far I have 4 spare cig adapters and since we are on a long trip, we shld be pass the adapter around in between breaks on the way up or down.

Without a doubt the following needs a charger or spare batt

Convoy leaders

Sweepers

Entertainers/Comedians

Navigators

(I will try to lay my hand on a second Nuvi[currently on a world tour]) I do have another 2 garmin gps, 2 Holux gps for anyone who wish to hook up using either WM6 PDAs/Palm or Nokia N/E series phones.

Those with mapking software can also download the mapking SGMY map from Malsingmaps.com

Once u use your phone/pda as navigator it will need a constant power supply.

ok guys with all the HP with built in GPS...

I got bad news. The GPS is crap.... Dun believe me, take your HP, load the GPS program stay in an open area with no bldg & see how long your gps get a fix.

Chances are you need an external bluetooth GPS. I have managed to round up 5 of these for the trip. 2 garmin & 3 holux

GPS program. For those using non garmin based GPS, you will need to get hold of a copy of Mapking. Think it cost ard $60, you will need a bluetooth GPS probably cost u between $199 to $250. If you are lucky to get garmin Que to work, then u only need to lay your hands on a GPS.

The nokia maps will require a data connection to constantly d/l the map. Dont even try in Msia. 1MB is SGD20

Those with HTC/DELL/HP/DOPOD/Palm with Windows Mobile 6, you can load in either MobileXT(require Garmin GPS) or GarminQue (generic GPS)

I have not twiddle with those PDA with builtin GPS before, but I guess we can test it out at the meetup.
