Ask them to not bother about the engine compartment wash - they charge your $36 for it. You can always do it outside.

My SE forgot that I asked him not to do it and ended up doing it for me anyway, but I insisted that I was not going to pay - so I got it waived off at the end  :thumbsu:

actually engine flush isn't necessary. just change out old engine oil at the right interval and you're fine.

in fact, there are some discussions on some Internet forums that it is useless, and may even cause engine seal problems in older cars.

as for fuel additive... snake oil. save fuel? nah.. more power? my butt is numb.. don't feel it.

and engine wash... engine is hidden inside the bonnet.. wash till so clean for what?

if you go read the servicing packages, these are not mentioned. you only get to know that after you've done your servicing.

imo, c&c should respect the consumer and ask before they do these unnecessary stuff.

Seems like it is possible that different service centers do different things at the same service interval? Mine was done at the main MBC in Alexandra area.

Actually you can specify if you not want tyre rotation or top up fluid in the addition instructions when you do your online booking. I just did my 45K servicing. Cost ard $450. Took ard 1/2day and they washed and polished my car till gleaming! Too bad it rained when I drove out.

Overall quite reasonable. The killer will be 60K servicing. Was informed it will cost more than $2K and to leave car for 2 days.

Just did the 60 000 km servicing cost me S$3.2k including a new battery cost about S$600+

folks...just to share my experience.  Get the service advisor to put down in black and white what was done.  1 year (May 12) after getting my ride, the air con died on me.  Sent it in for checking and they told me its the evaporator valve issue and had it changed for me.  This month, the air con died on me again.  Send it in on 7 Jan and till today, I refused to collect my car even though its ready.  Why?  They couldn't tell me what is wrong at all.  Only tell me that "it's a leak at the evaparator" and "it's a minor leak" and "under warranty, no charge".  I asked them what had caused the leak and they either don't understand my language or simply refuse to reply me but just keep telling me "it's a leak".

I told them I want to know the cause because its the 2nd time and they said the first time was that the air-con gas was depleted.  I said it wasn't because the service adviser had mentioned that its the evaporator issue and my car had to be in the service centre for 2 days.  If it's just air con gas replenishment, I don't think it requires 2 days of repair.  They said that was what they had on record and refused to even put it down in their written letter of explanation to me that there was a mis-communication or what even though i told them that they could put it down that I had made a mistake.

Now, they want me to meet up and discuss to move on, this is after I had to write in to the Daimler Singapore CEO.

Thus my advice is have the service advisor write down everything in black and white and keep the service sheet for record

My previous brandnew CLC got the same air con issue too within a year. First time send in to check for leak. Once they are unable to detect the leak point they will pump in "gas tracer" to detect the leaking point. I think they fail to explain clearly to u on this point.

Then collect my car and drives for a week but air con still not cold, so I send it back to them for replace the entire air con system which requires 2 days downtime.

This entire process was clearly explain to me by my SA at Pandan Service center.

The after sales service from C&C is getting worse with each passing year.

it should be reflected in the printed receipt they give u... based on norm, they will still top up even after i said no need, so i just give up asking liao, bro if wheels not staggered then is good to just do the rotation outside workshop, cheeeeper. :)

At MBC now for my 1st service. Give you guys the cost breakdown later today. BTW if you guys have family members working in the Jardine group they have discount apparently on parts and labour as a staff benefit. As yet I am still not sure of the quantum. Laters.
