Can you believe??? Republic Auto Warranty!

Recommended Posts

Ride: 2007 E200 (from Republic Auto).

Issue: Compressor Faulty (Aircon blowing hot air).

Warranty: 1 year Extended from RA.

Story: Went down to C&C for diagnostic test, told me my aircon compressor is fauty. SM told me aircon compressor should be covered in RA warranty BUT i still must fork up 1.5K for some vaults, pipings, gas, etc. (Day 1). So ex????? Anyone can verify? Of course I can go outside for full repair (1K) but will void my warranty. Pls advise. Thanks.

I will just go RA for e claim. Period.

Bro...the original price was told 3-4K for the repair. RA willing to compensate for compressor (which is under warranty) but the rest of piping, hose, etc . . .still must fork up 1.5K? It doesn't make any sense to me as how can these pipers & hoses cost so ex? plus since compressor under warranty at fault, isnt labour and diagnostic test also covered??? Can some bros help advise with 'banging tables'???

From my experience, labour is always covered if some mechanical parts break down during warranty.... I fully emphathise with ur predicament. Don't give up on ur rights so easily... There are many horror stories of service shops ripping off customers. I personally don't think u should pay. All e best.

Go and bang table bro. You have the right. They are priced at a premium. Normally about 10k onwards for same car outside (starting with C class). Knowing it's more expensive, but paid extra for the extra peace of mind and extended warranty.

Had bad experience w RA during my phase while scouting for my ride...ended up buying new instead...the marked up are too high (from market price) & just doesn't make sense...

My previous BMW bought used from PPSL + 1 yr warranty, same issue aircon, they changed for me at $0 although I was already out from the 3yr and into my 4th yr...RAuto hmm..

Please take note: RA warranty DOES NOT cover ALL faulty issues. They will give you a warranty list once you purchased (which includes some parts not covered!). Plus many fine prints to read. Sigh. SM said warranty only covered the compressor, not the 'little parts', which I found totally weird to cost 1.5K. Even the main compressor would not have cost that much! Now if I do not want C&C to repair, I must pay the diagnostic test ($350)!

2 options:

1.) 1.5K from C &C

2.) 1K outside plus silly $350 C&C diagnostic test ($1350)

Which package would you choose??? sigh. I still think I should not even pay a single cent for such repairs since under warranty. . . . . must call Papers soon . . . . .

Maybe you should seek a second opinion from outside workshop. My slk got this blowing hot air issue which was resolved with just a simple gas top up. If really need to change compressor, I would go for your option 1. Price wise not much diff better to be done by agent with original parts. But before paying really must bang some tables and ask for waiver.

please bang the table. if need kakis, shout here. see maybe got enough cars to flood their entrance.

peer pressures often , 99.9% works. and u will see how fast and 1st class the service becomes.

these days in spore, only after u bang the table or flip-flop your facem, u get the correct n reasonable services.

I read from other MB site that MB air-con system is designed to alert owner that refrigerant is "low", by blowing hot air through 1 vent, while the other with cool air. For reference only.

Finally I only paid half of the original 1.5K. However, the f.o.c aircon compressor was not reflected in the Merc Invoice. I raised the issue to my SM & he said it is the SOP as warranty product will not be reflected in my invoice. Is it true? Anyone has similar experience with Republic Auto/C&C when your warranty product is replaced but your invoice has no records of your repairs?

My invoice only stated:

Diagnostic test FOC

Noise Test FOC

Dehydrator (must pay)

Pipes (must pay)

Seal Rings (must pay)

Hence, I am wondering if my compressor has even changed! Thank you.

I am very disappointed with RA and C&C handling your case. Did they show u the old compressor from your ride and the box of the new compressor from the box , u can see the compressor serial number. Or did u ask to see the computer record of the changed compressor details.

Last time at KM, my invoice did reflect items changed which are under warranty.

Actually recently I am considering either a 2nd hand Mercedes Benz from RA or a new PI car. Now I more inclined to a new PI car

Both my front shock absorbers were replaced under warranty from C & C during my 30,000 km servicing. They did not not reflect in the invoice. I had my doubts too, but my mechanic At my regular workshop confirmed that they were changed.

Forget about RA.

I bought my car from RA and I must say that their SE's service, knowledge and honesty are no much different from any used car dealer that you can find outside... Dont wish to bring up the past... Just look forward and hope to afford a new one next time...

Hi Dark Angelc,

I replaced a faulty license plate bracket last year, it took them something like 4hours to change it. It was reflected in the invoice and FOC. They showed me the original bracket as well. Not too sure if the practice varies with diff parts but showing u the original faulty part should be their initiative.
