Audi to Unveil RS3 in Frankfurt?

Swedish mag Auto, Motor & Sport are reporting the RS3 is headed for a Frankfurt premiere with Audi's 2.5 liter, turbocharged engine from the TT RS

Audi RS3 artist rendering of A3 TDI Clubsport concept

by Alex Ricciuti

Speculative, speculative, speculative....

Disclaimer: The model pictured in the main "photo" above is a Photoshop-enhanced image of an A3 TDI Clubsport Quattro Concept made to look like a prospective Audi RS3. The rest are of that same A3 TDI.

The article quoted here is from the Swedish edition of Auto, Motor & Sport, and they claim to have a source inside the Ingolstadt-based Audi who says the RS3 is coming soon.

Audi has not yet officially unveiled an RS3 but we can let loose our imaginations, can't we?

An RS3 will most likely come with Audi's 2.5 liter, 5-cylinder turbocharged engine first seen in the TT RS. That engine produces 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque. It will also be a strict quattro (all-wheel drive). The Swedish mag is also speculating that an RS3 variant of that engine may be dialed up a little and feature anywhere from between 350 to 400 hp, making the model faster than an R8 with the 4.2 liter FSI engine.

If there is going to be an RS3, the Frankfurt motor show next month would be the ideal place to premiere it and that's what the Swedes at Auto, Motor & Sport are saying.

Looks like we will just have to wait ..

schweet! but whatever happened to the new RS4 or for that matter, the RS5? knowing that Audi only produces a single RS at any one time, will that mean the RS5 will be pushed back further?

First looks at the Audi R8 V10

Thur Sept 24, 2009

By Tony Ng

*updated on Sept 25, 4pm*

SINGAPORE: Forget all the superstars lining up outside the track before and after the Singapore Grand Prix.

A much grander star, the new Audi R8 V10 5.2FSI, landed at our borders last night at 12am.

The supercar, priced around the range of $600,000, was unloaded at the ports and immediately delivered to Fullerton Hotel Singapore.

The Audi R8 V10 then "flew" up eight storeys before landing at the balcony of one of the suites at the Fullterton Hotel.

The entire operation took less than three hours. During the processs, we were furiously snapping away.

We show you glimpses of who (or at least what) we think is the real superstar.

The Audi R8 V10 will be launched in Singapore at the Changi Exhibition Centre next Tuesday.

Oh my goodness audi has responded to my disappointment!! or rather MTM

RS6 Avant hits 214mph

Fancy a 214mph RS6 Avant, anyone? Then give MTM a call. That's what its Audi clocked at a recent speed event on the Nardo high-speed bowl in Italy.

To hit that sort of speed, the Audi tune-meisters had some boffins look at the RS6's 5.0-litre V10, then fiddle with it until 702bhp was being sent to the wheels. No wonder it did 0-124mph (that's 200kph in German) in 11 seconds... which is still nearly four seconds off the Veyron's time. Hmm, disappointing.

MTM took one of audi's best and made it even better. 702 bhp from an estate car and 0-200kph just 4s behind the veyron's time...incredible...

In all fairness, that's still an Estate. The Veryon is after all a super car category... ;)

The S3 SB with S-Tronic is very very nice to drive as well..... Can hear the turbo spooling when accelerating..... :punk1:

Sounds damm gooooodd....

well.....the RS6 is a wolf in sheep's clothing, 580bhp and 650Nm torque......and to some of us, it is a "market" car. But for sure, it is a damn f*%king fast market car.....very sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee........

the RS6 is just like what a BMW M5 is, a car for the family man that needs to drive the kids to school and occasionally have a good time driving it during the weekends without the kids.

VW Group Considering Audi R4 Platform for New Entry Level Porsche - speculation

By Thami Masemola

January 30, 2010 2:00 AM

The R8 started an exciting journey for the Audi brand when it launched into a segment its maker had not competed in before. Soon after rumours of a smaller R8, thought to be called the R4, surfaced. A concept e-tron car unveiled at the recent Detroit Auto Show confirmed that indeed an R4 is in the works.

Now Porsche is considering using the R4 platform as a basis for its newest and smallest model line. Speaking to Autocar, VW Group chairman Martin Winterkorn finally admitted to be looking at a car below the Boxster/ Cayman pair.

"The Porsche model range is firmly based on the 911, Boxster, Cayenne and Cayman, and it will stay that way," he was quoted as saying. "We are also investigating opportunities for a smaller sports car and a smaller SUV - but I cannot say more at the moment."

The car dubbed the new 356 would use a mid-engine layout and source power (said to be about 186kW or 250bhp) from a turbocharged boxer engine. It will share its transmission with the R4 but remain very much a Porsche in most other ways.

Although the R4 is expected to go on sale around June 2011, the Porsche model won't be available until at least 2012. Speculated prices stand at the equivalent of £33,000 (US$53,300) in today's money.

Revealed: Audi RS5

We weren't supposed to find out about this until next week, but call it an early GenevaPresent. Ready? OK.

Audi has revealed the RS5 - a 444bhp rival for the BMW M3 Coupe - ahead of its Geneva debut after brochure details were leaked onto the internet by some naughty rapscallions of loose morals.

But to heck with the back-story. Let's kick off with the Big Numbers: the four-wheel-drive RS5 will crack 62mph in 4.6 seconds and run to 155mph - unless you ask Audi very nicely to remove the limiter, in which case it'll hit 174mph. Yes, it's faster - and more powerful - than the M3 Coupe.

That 444bhp comes courtesy of a reworked version of the R8's 4.2-litre V8, making a full 30bhp more and driving all four wheels through a seven-speed DSG gearbox. A new centre diff feeds 60 per cent of the torque to the rear wheels in normal driving, but can send up to 85 per cent to the rear - or 70 per cent to the front - in extreme conditions. Oh, and you can turn the ESP off. Like, properly off. Good.

Visual differences from the S5 could best be described as ‘subtle': there's a new front splitter and bigger air intakes, with a retractable spoiler round the back that raises at 75mph, a feature officially known as the ‘Ooh, look at me, officer!' wing.

We're expecting the RS5 to cost around £60,000 when it goes on sale later this year, making it more expensive than that M3 Coupe. We'll bring you more details from the Geneva show next week. Waddya think, y'all?

Nearly got an Audi A4 and in the end got an used 1.5 yrs old w204. Heard that Audi's engine is so complex that the local mechanic may not able to repair.

Outside workshops do not have the factory diagnostic software and usually rely on 3rd party eg. VAGCOM. This U and me can buy.

The VAGCOM software can get into the ECU and in many instances, they can see the parameters but cannot change. Therefore there're limitations.

I had the A4 2.0T Quattro - Nice ride that handles very well!
