Hi bro of sgmerc,

recently I came across a shop in Thomas road that help to change our C180 original lights.

I was thinking of changing my lights to HID with bro from the forum. However much thinking I decided not to as I do not want my warranty to be void.

I went to this shop and I was recommended to just change the bulb to 5000K white light and the small orange light to 4000K.

This lights that they have are very stable and will not harm our circuit board.

I have installed for about 2 weeks. Everything is good and running in awesome order.

Total cost of changing is only $100. I feel is very affordable therefore I would like to share this awesome deal with all the brother here.

The shop owner guaranteed that this light will not damage our systems and if there is anything he will take care of it.

Please refer to pictures for more details. I just thinking to help so hope bro don flame me here.

If you like to have the address please pm me.

Cheers.

In case u are not aware, Sonic is our site sponsor specislise in HID too. Also whoever installed for you the HID will void warranty. U have bulbs instead of entire HID set? HID bulbs alone for $100 is consider reasonably cheap.

Bro, your stock is 4300k? I find that for MB xenon alittle yellowish.. Thinking to change it to 6000k.

8000k will be more blue in colour.

I like those total white with alittle purple at some angle. Think 6000k should have this.

Which brand of the bulb are u getting?

Yes stock is slightly orangey. My source bulb 8000k is not blueish, previously used 6000k on my landy find it not white enough though. Mine is a cheapo source u dare to try arh lolz. Get those reptutable brand like Philips brand or ask Sonic for advise. Below is my buddy ride on my cheapo bulb 6000k.

But do take note that the higher the K, the less bright the light will be.

Yes! U got a point there!

IIRC A typical 55W Halogen bulb like H7 has about 1500 lumens whereas for a 35W Xenon Bulb when all things being equal, a typical D1S at 4300k gives about 3000 lumens and at 6000k about 2600 lumens and as the Kelvin (K) goes up, the Lumens start to drop. At 8000K the lumens may drop below 2000 lumens.

At 6000K the light is near to day light and that could be the reason Osram & Philips do not produce Xenon bulbs higher than 6000K.

Anyway driving in Sg really does not make any different till U drive up to MY at nite where there are no street lights especially on the highway.

I guess if U are driving in Sg, some owners like their color rather than the brightness.

Rp 1 worth!

Cheers

Agree Uncle! Just to share, I changed to 6k but kept the high beam and fog stock.

I frequent the NSHW. I will encourage people who drive up north often to keep their yellow fog lights and yellow high beam. Life saver when there's a heavy downpour or when light condition is bad or worse, foggy. Can be very dangerous at high speeds. My 2 cents.... :D

So I gather from this thread that changing to HID will void the warranty, but changing from 4300k to 6000/8000k is fine?

No no, anything is not from C&C will void warranty. We are talking abt xenon bulbs, stock is 4300k & we plan to change it to 6000 or 8000k. Those model that does not comes with xenon will go to HID route which will void warranty too. So as those changing aftemarket xenon bulb to higher k.

My original ILS color is certainly more to white than yellow, so I think it's already more than 4300k and more like 6000k.

Think the original Xenon is 5000K and usually from Osram

Next time U park your ride next to mine and compare my 6000k to yours! :D

Yap after warm up, like 15 mins then is more whitish. Next time take a good look after u switch it on. Anyway planning to tint the headlight so might drop the idea of upgrading!!

Thanks for taking the time to explain, blackmerc.

Well, I think its worth the risk, think the 6000/8000k lights look good. Unlikely they will void warranty for non electrical components anyway.

Do you have a rough cost for 6000k xenon bulb?

Philips $300-400, local workshop (no brand) $160-180, others $130-160. I THINK!!

Do you have a rough cost for 6000k xenon bulb?

U talking about after market HID set or U just asking about converting the original Xenon D1S bulb to 6000K?

If it's after market HID, Bro Blackmercs got the answer for you!

If it's D1S bulb - Philips Utinon Blue 6000K - $400+ a set bulbs only and if no brand <$200 a set of D1S bulbs.

Cheers
