Hi guys,

I think my windshield wiper rubber is giving way...

Any particular brand we need to use? Size?

Never changed a wiper rubber before... How, huh???

Btw, the w124 wiper arm can't be tilted upwards like the rest of the conventional wipers, right?

Or am I doing something wrong, because I can't get the wiper arm standing while washing the car. :P

I don't want to force it and break it :death:

Yeah, I feel heartpain while trying to do that :P

For the rubber blade, Is there a specific size or something that I should look for?

Autobacs will sell it I guess?

Finally settled except for abit of wierd start up problem other than that car is great... feels morw torquier =)

To all W124 16 valves owner... if u wan better pick up from ur 16 valves u can change ur trimmer plug to a rating 1... it will advance ur timing and hence resulting in power gain. =) this applies to 93-95 16 valves W124 200E or E200 with the PMS module...

funny 1 calp haha... thats wat i thought too haha

do a goggle om PMS u will be stunned haha... monetary damage is $2,568.00 for the PMS and $28.00 for the trimmer plug, a piece of LHS quarter glass panel.... tube of thermal grease, nut and other stuffs and plus re-learning or the idle control valve... all in all close to 2.9K i think nv calculate....

spent have a adae cleaning the interior full of shattered glass( removing front and back seat out... and replacement of glass panel... the tedious thing is the wiring....

Funny how when Mike's control unit took a trip in the hands of someone else, my 8v unit gave it's last spark on Sunday 28th September. At 2pm, I pronounced the car dead. I thought it was the fuel pump at first so I rang kel to check on the price of a replacement. Waited for the ever efficient AA to tow the car to my usual workshop. The weather was bloody boiling hot.

So anyway, the control unit was a cheap sub $100 fix. It's a German OEM unit. The original Bosch ones don't seem to come here anymore due to the higher cost - something to the tune of $285 I was told. I was given a quick lesson on control units and what it costs for the different models. Apparently 1992 8v models use a more expensive version of the control unit which is similar to the 16v models. The addition of a catalytic converter in 1992 8v models was the main culprit. The replacement control unit is approx $2,700 for the 92 8v - almost on par with '93-'95 16v models.

In addition to this, I got my new F/L front bumper and new seals for my rear windscreen.

Anyone wanna buy my car ? :yumyum:

Bumper w/o paint was $190. The bill not with me cos I'm not picking it up hahahaha :devil2: Wah lau eh your MoTec excercise would be overkill but nice to have. :) Mmm.. other than MoTec, don't know if other brands will work. Wolf 3D which is an Australian computer is pretty decent with plenty of add-ons avail. Also MicroTech but I think they are more popular for rotary engined cars. Mmm.. Autronic hahahah rally computer - total overkill.

Hi guys. will be doing some repairs on my car while i am out of town during the end of the month. quite a long list:

1. Change fuel pump. Can smell the leaking petrol. guess its quite bad. mech said got to change accumulator n something else too.

2. Change rear axle. got to change propellor n some other stuff as well cos its for 16valve.

3. Body work. got rust at the left back pillar near the back door. there's a strip there that is now not hooked properly due to rust.

4. Change plug wires n injectors.

5. re-tune engine as there are some stains left on the rear bumper from the exhaust fumes. i assume its incomplete combustion as the exhaust smell is quite strong.

Wanted to send the car for painting but these repairs have blown my budget. estimate abt $2k. wat do u guys think?

Will be driving up to malacca with my wife n baby after these repairs so i want the car to be really sorted out lest it breaks down halfway.
