C63 Paddle Shift on Kom 5 speeds

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Just like to share a mod which I have just done. I have installed a C63 steering wheel on my 1.6 Kom which comes with 5 speed. This was done without the "wire" but by programming. This is only possible on the 7 speeds CGI but now the 5 speeds Kom can also do it.

After this mod, there will be an extra M (manual mode) other than E and S. M mode will show all gears in 1,2,3,4,5

I got the C63 ($1600)from Dr Hannson and installation ($400) done by Ah Boon from AutoSprintz. Installation can be done in less than 3 hours.

Cheers

5 speed = D1, D2, D3, D4 + reverse gear. The up and down shifters will show D1-D2-D3-D4-D if you cycle through the gears.

No wonder alot of question on M mode for kompressor. So how is this M mode works in yr ride?? U pay additional $400 for it?

I correct you. When engaged to M, it will show 1,2,3,4 and upto 5. Not the D1 to D4.

Mine is also like that.

basically the only pro about this is that u can use the paddle shift to up and down gear instead of the gear stick right? any other pro about this steering wheel?

Honestly, nothing except what u mentioned.

Good when people jio u at traffic light and u used M to shift your gear... Drag longer and change faster. That's all.

I seldom use this M mode.

I'm very INSPIRED!! Thanks for the post Miraclefly :thumbsu: ! Frankly, I haven't even get my C250 CDI yet but have already alot of mods in mind. I did contemplated changing to the C63 AMG Steering Wheel but after seeing so many of you had done the mod, I'm lured :goodjob: !!! But I'll be doing it myself as a DIY project & I'll hope to do another tutorial like I had done with the PedalBox on my current B200 Turbo. I'd also bought a tuning box, Facebook Edition RaceChip Ultimate, and will also be performing that mod. I'd actually installed another same RaceChip on my wife's Polo 6R. I'll try to do up a simple tutorial under Other Car Makes of this Forum when I get home over this weekend. Stay tuned ..............

Is actually good to know that Kompressor can now literally plug & play. Don't need to remove the entire dash like during my time. Real guinea pigs.

Unless you've tons of technical knowledge, I'd recommend you to get the steering wheel professionally installed. Installation process isn't as simple compared to the TRD or tuning boxes.

Bro, without your sacrificial, I don't think Ah Boon would have found out how to enable the Peddle Shifting through the software. You had in a way contributed to this plug & play revelation. :thumbsu:

Of course will wish you best of luck! Just that you need the diagnostic system to do the programming.

I do apologize, my new C250 CDI will have the 7G-Tronic gearbox so it's straight swap :D

My apologies, I skipped the part where you said CDI. Then it should be quite straight forward! Do let us know the results! Good to have people willing to DIY on their new rides and share the experience. Two thumbs up for you.

Do you mean 2010 ah boon could already do programming method without stripping apart the dashboard to install?

Do bear in mind that you'll need to purchase a new airbag for pre FL W204.

The W204 was upgraded in late 2011. Along with the astatic upgrades you see in the car, the electronics and internal components also got an update. So yes, Ah Boon could already install the wheel in the pre FL W204. He just needs sometime to learn how to install it in the FL W204.

Wah so many replies...

During the programming stage, Ah Boon need to hook up to the Germany programmer. Progrmaming not done by Ah Boon. So it will be better to go in the afternoon when its in the morning in Germany.

No Stripping of dash board. The only physical work is changing the steering wheel.
