The stitching portion is quite obvious though. What software did you use, and how many photos were used to stitch it up?

General rule of thumb is the overlapping portion of each photo must be 50% or more, not just stitch at the edges of the photo

I'm also a car photographer. It was cars that brought me into photography and getting my first dslr, then i bought the nikon and started doing more landscapes.

The advent of technology has made photography so easy!

I remember playing with my friend's Sony PNS camera just press and sweep the camera across, and 5 seconds later you get a pano!
