Mark, in your opinion, now that the 2012 map is available, do you still feel that the aftermarket GPS system is better? i am also confused in terms of the control. Does both your COMAND and aftermarket GPS use the same monitor? if yes, then the COMAND monitor is a touch screen? is the original monitor a touch screen?Thanks.

Now that I've got Comand, I've not touched my aftermarket GPS in a very long time. I feel that Comand is good enough for me, once you get used to the controls it is also fairly easy to use. I can search for address within seconds now compared to minutes when I just started using the system. The aftermarket GPS shares the same monitor as the Comand system. You are able to change the video feed to show whichever feed you want, if you have iPhone connectivity like mine, you can even switch to show that screen. Comand does not come with touchscreen. The touchscreen only works on the aftermarket GPS. You can either choose touch screen or control it via a remote control depending on which aftermarket GPS you choose.

Hi, it is difficult to tell whether it supports all the postal code as no one will spend their time to try them all but believe most of postal code are there while the map size also grew up from 4G (2012) to 8G (2013).

Err... I just did my se Asia map update with the latest 2013 edition with CnC about 2 weeks ago. Had tried doing postal code search, but still... Not being able to do so. Thus, I was wondering if your version can do the job. If so, it'll be wonderful as I was looking forward to that function.

If can do "full postal search" - all HDB block numbers will be found under address search.

If not all HDB block numbers can be found under address search - bola - mana ade postal search

Maybe have for those that can be found under address search....U go search and cum back make FR!

I think now there is a question about whether you can use the postal code searching function not the coverage of the postal code.

 

Supposedly you're using the Comand NTG4.5 (w a SD Card Slot at the front panel), you should be able to use the postal code searching. I will post the photo later on for your reference. However, if your Comand is not NTG4.5, it's not likely you have the 2013 update as well as using the postal code searching.

 

Thus, seems it's not logic that C&C update would be different from us as the map should be the same, although I'm pleased to let you be my customer.

ah... I see. So far, I've tried and own....  map version 2011, version 2012 and now version 2013. For these versions, the maps already support postal code search functions. However, none of them supports most of the postal codes here in Singapore. For each map version, I had used them on various MB rides and they're on comand online system which came together with my rides. The latest 2013 maps is now operating on my Comand Online system v2. I was quite happy when I saw your post :

as I thought that there is a newer map version out there that is able to support full postal code search functions here in Singapore. I use postal code search function quite often on my garmin. Thus, if your map update is able to do the job, that'll be great and I would not need the additional device on my ride. However, since the updated version from your side is the same one from CnC, then I guess I would have to pass your offer as your version would have been the same as the one from CnC which in any case, does not support most of the postal code here in Singapore.

Nope, my reverse camera is aftermarket fitted and comes with the media interface. Media interface is very useful if you want to add other video inputs like iPhone mirroring, aftermarket GPS etc. Original camera very expensive and don't come with the media interface!
