Questions on C180K

hi everyone..

my first maiden post here...

currently deciding whether to change to the above.. i was told that depreciation of a typical 3yr old merc is about 12-15k (is it true?).. and when the time comes, the se can help 'roll' to a new merc with minimal cash top-up.

sounds weird.. does anyone knows this how it works in detail?

next.. i test drove the car.. felt the steering, gas and brake and pedals are all very very very light.. machiam like no feeling.

is it just the test-drive car or all c180k are like that? i am currently driving a legacy gt

the doors are damned heavy.. which i like.

finally, i was offered 12k in total that consist of the overtrade, svc credit and (dunno what special).

accessories are rev camera (a wow gimmic.. but my wife don't drive ;-) ..so..) and huper optic (i have films on my previous 2 cars.. frankly, not much effect. a/c full blast is much better) and 8x scr (find that quite useless too..i don't like ppl driving my car unless absolutely necessary)

what else should i bargain for?

will they agree to a request for all credits/discount instead and forget about those nonsense stuff?

sorry for shooting so many questions... and thanks in advance.

Welcome!! Depreciation value is subjective. Take the buy price less rebate value divided by ten years that will be yr dep value. Since every freebies u dont require, bargain for higher trade in price instead which i did.

You don't need the reverse cam. Check out previous threads on command online units left over from the 125anniversary.

Guru,

See&See current promotion on new C180K (1.6L) sell price seems more reasonable now. I am driving a 2006 E200ML, from performance perspective, would it make sense switching to C180K (1.6L) ?

I plan to test drive, but would appreciate your take on this. Thanks.

wml888,

i was there yesterday.

the overall price is 177,888.

they will give u service credit, overtrade and some special i dunno what.. total 12k

then there will be other accessories freebies, as i mentioned above, useless imo.

if u intend to take loan, u can go for 2.68% minimum 5yr and 50% of 177,888 (and they will give rebate of 8% on the loan u take with them), or 1.88% with no rebate..

if u intend to loan 100k, the rebate will be 8k, and the total 'deal' will be 177,888-8k-12k = 157,888.

do your math to see if its worth..each individual's situation is different.

The reverse cam is not merc issued. It's something c&c arranged to be installed when your car gets here. Either get some other accessories or get the SE to knock more $$$$ off.

Please remember the current rate is 1.88%. The fiscally prudent would not knowingly walk into a deal that almost twice that in terms of interest rate.

For flat rate of 1.88%, you are actually paying an effective rate of 3.6%pa for a 5 years loan. So, if it's 2.68% flat rate, the effective rate is 4.99%pa for a 5 years loan. Thats very high in current low interest rate environment, but if you think that interest is going to head up soon, then you can lock in the rate now.

Thanks again guys. ;)

Bro Blackmercs.. this is my first merc.. probably gonna stay stock for a while.. besides, still under C&C warranty.

One thing I noticed, the brake and gas pedal felt loose..even the 2012 model from C&C also felt the same.. compared to my LGT. Everything tight tight. Not sure if its the brake hose issue or anything.

If there's a mod, the brake is one area I'll look into.

Bro WML888, got mine via Sgcarmart. if I drive it till EOL, depreciation is about 14+k with interest included.

my monthly about 1k :)

Hopefully the previous owner has given it enough TLC.. let me spend on mods instead of repairs

Was also driving a Sub but STI before switching to the C180, like what you have mentioned, the brake and gas pedal felt loose but both is a totally different class. Have been enjoying the ride since i got it one month ago even though the power of the C180 i'm having now is not even half of my previous STI........but no regrets getting the C180.......hope you will also enjoy the ride......
