Hi,

Anyone can advice or recommend where to change my brake disc & pads?

Went in to Cycle for servcing and they claimed that my pads are worn and disc thinning! Quoted me 1.8k for parts & 900 for workmanship.

Not sure of mkt rate. I am driving the FL W211.

Thank you in advance.

I did mine for front only at OKI motor early the year and cost me about $700++. It took about 1-2 hrs for the job. Mine is FL 211 SP and was told the disc slightly bigger than the model before sport edition (sp)

according to my Svc Advisor from C&C, if the brake pad is left with 5% the display cluster will show a warning message...mine is W212, not sure about other models

Hi jhun,

Thank you for your support!

Just wanna add, don't worry bout the rear brakes. They should be due for a replacement till your next servicing or change of new front brake pads again.

Of coz, that's only provided that you don't do reverse driving all the way up to JB! :becky:

W212 brake pad can last for how many km ar? my rim is full of black powder all the time  looks like copper chrome :(

Hi Ed,

Generally it should last for 20K but it will vary depending on driving habits. Black powder could be caused by many reasons: constant E-braking, lower quality of pads, uneven surface on your brake discs or brake pads have exceeded shelf life (meaning you don't drive frequently and yet did not change the pads after a year or so). All these will generally cause lots of black powder.

Best regards,

Mic

C&C quoted me $2300 front and back pads+rotor, all in (W211 2006 model). My car dealer quoted me $660 spare parts + $200 labour. He said German made, not necessarily the OEM manufacturer, but German parts. He will dump the parts at the workshop and I drive there myself. I called one of the parts supplier found on Google search and it was only $200 for the parts by FEBI but have to get it from the office yourself. Now I am calling around - the sponsors here to get different quotations. Anybody here can share their experience with changing brake pads+rotor and costs..? I am waiting for the original Benz spare parts supplier to call me back with prices and availability.

Thanks G8crasher, new to this. This forum is useful for my research purpose and I like to thank everyone who contributed to the postings. Your forum has helped me saved a lot of money, not that I cannot afford it, but I hate to be taken for a ride .. other than in my Mercedes

I found suppliers through cold calling Google search results who quoted me $480 (Balo) and $230 (Febi) - which are much lower than what the car dealer wanted to charge $660 for "German made" ones. So I am going to buy the parts myself and bring it to Starblack for the labour $200 for front and back all in. So in the end $430 (FEBI) vs $680 (Balo) vs $2300 (C&C) vs $860 (via car dealer) vs $1900 (one of the sponsors here/ using original MB parts). I would have given the money to the car dealer to sort it all out for me but his frowning and poor attitude when i asked one too many questions turned me off to want to do this myself.

Thank you and just wanted to share the experience.

JFYI

Small task : To replace my rear brake pads which were wearing out.

Option 1) Workshop quoted me $210 rear brake pads *2 (include labor) + $50 sensors * 2 (not true - there is only 1pc!). Total $260/=

Option 2) To buy parts from Gallop Auto, rear brake pads (FEBI) @ $30 + Sensors (only 1pc is needed!) @ $4.50. The get it replaced at SIM Motor @ $40 labour. Total $76/=

Per option 1, beside pricing themselves out, i do not condone to their etiquette in deceiving customer to make more $... haiz
