hi guys,

I've noticed that my roof/ceiling lining is sagging... Don't know how it happened (maybe me driving with windows down accelerated the inevitable death:) it's like a balloon, leh. ) ???

checked with MBM, they will have to replace the whole fabric on the ceiling.

almost 400 bucks :death:

i think I will wait until the whole roof comes down. :tongue1:

or is there any other way?

Just removed 2 heavy amps and 1 sub is coming out tonight. Actually I've been driving around without my sub box for the past 3 weeks and fuel efficiency has improved considerably. Once all the eqpt goes out of the car, I am estimating approx 470-480km return on a full tank of petrol. It used to be only 440km tops. I/C/E is heavy. :yumyum:

Yes I agree with Mike. There is definitely a problem somewhere in your car. My worst return with 75% city driving is around 390km. PLENTY of stop start traffic. Check the following -

- spark plugs (if they're black, could be over-rich mixture)

- leaking exhaust

- ignition control unit

- worn valve

- vacuum hose leakage

Spent last night and this morning ripping out the entire sound system + wiring from the car. The boot was easy. Out came the back seats and carpeting. Found some coins and some patches of MDF dust which I duly cleaned up with some wet wipes.

The wiring was poorly laid as previously suspected. Good 16 gauge speaker cables were used but some of the cables were poorly spliced with slightly loose connectors - loose enough to cause occasional static to be heard in the speakers.

Freaking RCA jackets have suffered some heat damage especially the ones connected to the head unit. They feel sticky. Bleah.

Took me 3 hours last night + 30mins this morning to install a set of decent co-axials to the head unit. Removed the iPod adapter, a KCA 420i 'cause I hardly plug in my ipod nowadays.

Looks like I'm gonna need to replace the kickpanels in both driver and passenger footwells as they have started to crack after 17 years. The A pillars either need a rewrap or if I can find decent conditioned ones at Propel, I'll just replace 'em.

Might pop by Propel soon - maybe even this Saturday so if anyone wants to join me, you're more than welcome.

Yeah lah haha. Probably head down to Propel tomorrow morning for a quick one. I don't think they have any beige panels in stock so will try to get black ones for my A-pillars and kickpanels. My carpet damn dusty leh. You know where to make a new set ?

  • 2 weeks later...

Yesterday I ordered a set of rubber shims in 18mm for the front suspension to replace my ageing 11mm shim. Mech also discovered that my front shocks suffered from lack of gas and the original rubber bump stops were disintegrating, causing an even lower ride height. Replaced 2 front shocks with new Bilsteins and shims. The gap between tyre and fender has now been increased from 1/2 finger to 3 finger spaces. At least I don't squirm when I go over humps and bumps now. :)

If you buy Bilstein comfort shocks, the price varies from as low as $80 - $120 (dependent on where you buy from) per shock. Yes, ride height is due to rubber shim as well as age and condition of shock absorber and bump stop.
