Just received today. I tried to fix myself, and end up dunno why 1 bulb works and the other one didn't work. Will try again. Bulb is quite white, but because the light cover is blue-ish, end up it looks blue from outside.

Will try again these 2 days.

Managed to change the LEDs and they worked finally... phew....

Not easy to plug out the bulbs and put the LEDs in, smaller hands will be good for the job.

The eyelids looks very blue, and is not as bright as the original yellow ones. In fact I'll say they are quite dimmed. In the night it looks quite ok, in the day it is hardly visible. For me, it's acceptable as I just wanna get rid of the yellow look.

Can't figure out how to attach the picture here. Those interested pm me and I'lll email to you. Picture quality not very good though as I've taken it with my phone.

Cheers.

hello bro not bad lah very swee. at night fierce fierce.

More poison for U! :devil2:

White LEDs for your licence plate - no error msg.

Previously I D.I.Yed my W203 licence plate light with white LED bulbs + ceramic resistors.

Now I abit lazy to do that for my E200K.

Thought of buying but "not cheap"

I've asked him to send me pictures of the actual bulbs.

I actually have ordered a spare set (as I ordered 2 types from 2 different sellers to see which will work!). Since now the set that I've already received works, I can sell the spare set to you if you want. (provided it works!)

Let me know via PM.

Hi bro C180 so you think the first one quality is ok and i should proceed with the purchase. its from the seller from the link i posted right?

The posts that I have made in this thread refer to the LEDs that I have bought from the link in the first post in this thread:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=140300100192

These are already installed into my car, and like I said, they look quite blue and is not very bright.

I have not received the LEDs from the link that I have posted myself yet.

Hi, I have tested the germany LEDs posted by NewC180. May work for some W204s but not for all. Mine belongs to the one that couldn't work. I ordered 3 sets (2 for eyelids and 1 for license plate). As a result, I brought one set to the interior lights and left with an extra set don't know what to do. :banghead:

License plate lights one working perfectly:

Hi Eugene,

From the look of your bulbs they are wedge type bulbs T10/194 unlike the W203 or the ones on my E200K which uses 38 mm festoon bulbs. If that is the case, the lights Bro C180 are correct for his W204 but I will not be able to use them for my E200K. :'(

I've ordered the festoon bulbs & resistors to prevent the OBC(On Board Computer) error msg when I changed to white LED festoon bulbs.

Looks like I have to DIY again for my E200K! :(

BTW I've changed my front, back & reading dome lights to white LED and the rest of the interior lighting to white LEDs will be done once the bulbs are here.

Interior for my E200K beside the front & back dome lights will be the vanity mirrors bulbs x 2, glove compartment x 1, front & back foot well lights x 4, door courtesy lights x 4 & boot lights x 3 & Licence Plate lights x 2 .

A total of 6 x T10 (Dome & Reading) & 16 x 38/39mm festoon bulbs.

Here are some pictures of the Bulbs that I ordered for my licence plate lights - 18 LEDs 39mm festoon bulb & the resistors to prevent the error msg. This is the 1st time 1 see a 38/39mm festoon bulbs with 18 LEDs.

They should be pretty bright! ;D

I've received the LEDs from the German seller, and they look like this:

For eyelids:

For rear number plate:

24022009062.jpg

Sorry for bad picture quality, Nokia phones are good but not the camera!

I've tested the eyelids on my car, and the brightness looks similar to the ones I've bought from motoringmax on ebay (the link in the first post of this thread). So I'm gonna use the German ones for my internal lights and just leave the motoringmax ones in the eyelids

Still can't figure out how to change the number plate lights. How do you open it up to change? Eugenemon can advise me?

Thanks.

Batam Cheem, sorry so I don't think I've got any spares to pass to you.

No problem about passing me the bulbs.

From your picture that's the correct bulb for your licence plate.

And I can see the ceramic resistor on the back of the LEDs

It's call a festoon bulb and they should be around 38 or 39mm in overall length.

To change the licence plate bulb, it should something like the picture below.

Use a philip head screw driver and unscrew the covers and just replace the bulb inside each housing.

If it doesn't light up, turn the bulb around becos LEDs has positive & negative terminals.

Please pass me the link to where U puchased these licence plate bulbs again.

Hi Batam Cheem, I've seen your thread on this DIY before. However, there are no screws on the light holder on the W204! That's where my problem is!

hehehehehe!......If I read the specs correctly on the W204 C Class specs. your licence plate bulbs are W5W or the same type as your eyelid bulb and not the one U show in the picture for your licence plate.

My E200K licence plate bulb is listed as C5W which is 38mm festoon bulb.

What I am trying to say his your licence plate bulbs that U've bought fit my E200K but not your W204...heheheh!!! ;D

W211 changing bulbs

I dun think U need to remove lots of stuff to change your licence plate bulb.

Quickly go & check U got the right bulbs for your C Class.

If they are wrong, U still can sell them to me....hehehehe!!! ;D

Oops!! It that so??? If that's the case, my loss is your gain then! Haha! OK, I'll check and let you know. But first of all, I need to figure out how to open the license plate bulb housing!

BTW, I've just installed the extra eyelid bulbs I have into the front dome light. So now front dome light is white, rear dome light is yellow... $^&@*$^ my car looks like rojak now!

If they are OK, then U keep them, if they are wrong, U still can use your front dome bulbs.

BTW your internal dome lights & all your internal lights are not control by the OBC and any white/blue/red leds bulb will do. No need to use the expensive ones with the in-built resistor.

Here's a few that I've bought but careful of the length and diameter that will fit.

No need to fight with other bidders in that link.

There's another seller selling them at EUR 34.99 each set.

UPDATE!

Managed to open up the light housing for the rear number plate. To change the number plate lights, you need to practically open up the inner covers of your boot!

Batam Cheem, you are right, the number plate bulbs for the license plate lights is the same as the eyelids! Unfortunately, my German LEDs have some problems and they are either not working for the error code came out.

Anyway, I gave up on them, and will leave the license plate lights as yellow for now till I get another LED in to try.

I'll try to put the festoon bulb into my 5's license plate. If they don't fit, I'll let you have them.

For guys thinking of buying the German ones, I will not recommend as they seems to be not very reliable. I will recommend to buy from the American one listed on the first post of this thread (Obama will love me if he see this post!)

Cheers!
