couple of months back, my dad in law also bought a masterpiece w124 e200 model....

was a 95' model....

bought from a dealer in mackenzie road...

at first the dealer seems very steady...

we test drove the car, no complains....

the engine was ok, the gear box was ok....

and the dealer assured us everything is ok....

we did mentioned that the blind behind was not working well, the headlamps was not working well, and a couple of small items....

he said that as long as the engine and gear box is good, the rest is small issues that we can settle on our own....

so we dealed....

after which came the scary part.....

i did up the car for my dad in law....

so upon collection of the car, we went back to my factory....

after fitting the air con chrome rings, the other chrome parts....

we cannot start the car.....

later we realised that the battery was flat and dead....

we called the dealer up and asked, he told me there is nothing he can do....

so we L.L. went to get a new battery.....

ok we take it as we are suay....

then we go to the boot and take out the spare tire to check cos i realised that there are some water trapped at the boot area....

the spare tire was damaged....

ok never mind...

i went to my fren tire shop to get a used one for free... no issue...

then we realised that there is not mercs. jack... and tool kit...

so we went back to take....

they gave us a bag of tools from japanese car which cannot be use....

and the jack....

and they complained that if we keep going back to them to take things they will not entertain....

ok fine...

i checked the headlamps as one side was not working....

took the lamp apart and realised that the lamp was badly damaged....

i took my old one to replaced and HID it both lamps and foggies....

problem solved....

then the grille looks abit funny....

again was not original...

so i went to the scrap yard to buy one for about S$80....

the air con vent was damaged...

i went to the scrap yard to buy for S$60.....

changed them and was happy with it....

the dash bulbs are all dimmed...

so we replaced all the bulbs....

and when we wanted to fit reversed camera and screen

we took the bottom mats apart and realised that there is water pondering inside!!!!

we cleared up the water and realised that there are some more water but didn't know where the water came in from....

so we started to pour and spray water from outside....

and when doing so...

we realised that the is 2 nice water fall from the front and flowing into the car interior!!!!

OK...

we took the whole dash board out and air con out and realised that the seal was not use!!! they use the "orh yu kor" which harden and definitely is the wrong material to use....

since taking out the whole dash and air con unit...

we decided to send the air con for washing.....

and serivce or course....

after that we put back everything and now it working fine....

now the power steering is giving problems....

WTF....

one problem comes after another....

the one i bought 3 months back from another dealer at tagore is so much more honest dealer....

he rest assured us that the car is good....

and till today i spent less than 2k doing up mine.....

for my own masterpiece, i changed:

- throttle body S$490

- fuel pressure regulator S$50

- absorbers S$90 per piece for front and S$60 per piece for rear

- ball joints for front S$30 each

- steering hydraulic strut S$26

- steering links on top the strut S$38

- absorber bump stop S$9 each

- absorber top mounts S$28 each

- wiper sprays S$14 each

- wiper spray water tank rubber seal (few dollars)

- boot bonnet rubber guard (4 pcs and each is about S$6 or so....)

- a pair of hella brand headlamps brand new S$380.00

all prices b4 gst....

and now my car feel so much better....

by the way if u need to get parts...

u can go to:

SURPASS AT KAKI BUKIT...

67476016

he definitely go good pricings.....

as for my dad's in law car....

:(

spend alot....

so if u intend to get a w124...

make sure u pull the mats on the floor board to check if got water leakage.....

and if it is a masterpiece...

the steering wheel is wooden type.....

dun get ripped off!!!!

I agree that one of the dangers of buying used cars is getting a lemon and poor after sales service!

I feel for you!

come for the meet-ups and get in touch with the 'old skool' gang! i'm sure there'll be plenty of stories to go round!

kekeke, next time when my daughter grows up. I will tell her she must marry someone with clarkewan's knowledge.

The dealer at MacKenzie road bearing the name of 3 alphabets cannot make it. Father and son makes the number one tat team in conmenship.
