If allow, i can post in this thread for all w124 owners to benefit on the left over parts.

Some parts had been sold in the last few days.

Note : some picture are taken off the net.

(otherwise mod, pls delete.... i;ll wait till enough credit or post in other site first. Thanks).

at long last....

sent my car to top speed yesterday to service my auto gear box....

not that it is spoilt....

but just that since i took over the car and didn't do anything to the auto box....

tot is high time i send to service....

top speed = ah seng...

darn good!

friendly guy and LOADS of experience!!

wat i encountered b4 servicing....

the gear knob is loose (that is the bushing problem due to wear and tear)

the car was not responsive

the car jerks slightly when i put on cruise control mode

after do up....

wow!

gear knob firm

car very responsive

car do not have anymore jerks when on cruise control mode

Thanks for sharing your experience clarke! looks like ah seng @ Top Speed is another good local mechanic we can add to our list. cheers!

Hopefully there will be guys like him around in the future. Nowadays all these NTC certified mechs are trained to do mostly modular repairs.. I think I better learn how to tweak around more if I intend to keep it beyond 30 years :surrender:

for the 16v gearbox, the gear-stick bush usually needs to be replace once every 2 yrs and its cheap ($2 each x 4)

as for the jerk in the cruise control, its usually the propellor shalf coupling, which will also needs changing every 2 years .

Change it to the S class one, its much lasting.

bro...

the jerking from the cruise control is cos the clutch inside the auto gear box wears off....

according to ah seng...

not the torque converter part cos that part got no clutch...

now is very steady liao...

feels good..

anyway ah seng also change the bush for me which he didnt add in any cost...

cheers!!!

basically he replaced the whole recon gear box....

inside all the wear and tear parts are placed new....

i paid S$1400 for all... inclusive of labour...

i think is reasonable....

:D :D :D

now the car feels really good...

:D :D :D

thanks to topspeed ah seng!!
