After looking through all the advice, it seems like you guys missed out another type of robber.... which i was robbed a few times when driving to Malaysia...

the Police!  This one rob you in broad day light...

I  know 1 friend who overcome this problem!

He frequently travels to our neighbor and he like to speed.

Regardless of cameras or mata2, he don't pay his fines and not afraid of getting his VRN blacklisted.

Once he thinks that his VRN should be in deep s$it with the authourities, he bid for new VRN.

His take is that it's a cheaper option!  :)

Just came back from a v nice trip to Malacca

Took the 2nd link instead of the causeway even though the causeway would hv been nearer my home as that allowed me to avoid passing through the JB town

Drove all the way non-stop to Malacca, didn't want to and didn't find any need to stop along the way.

Booked a nice hotel in Malacca and parked at the hotel secured basement carpark where there were many Sg cars and of which most were luxury makes

All in all, had a really great trip, enjoyed the shopping & eating in Malacca and also enjoyed the drive to and from Singapore.

Would do it again :-))))

Mind sharing which hotel in Melaka you are referring to? I am thinking to have a short trip to KL and thought a stopover at Melaka is a good idea. Thanks for sharing.

We used to park at Equatorial basement too. There is guard and many SG cars there. Move around on foot as Jonker st and shoppings are within walking distance.

I've stayed at both Equatorial, and Holiday Inn. Many Singapore cars in the carpark too. Holiday Inn is a newer hotel but it's further from the shopping area. Equatorial literally opens to the door step of the shopping area but it's an older hotel.

hahaha! Then it's up to thaiC-Class to show the date of transfer of the VRN to his car lol to prove his virgin hoot :)

Best to check before buying any VRN but imho who would want to sell his 1972 - 42 yr old VRN E7E because of being blacklisted in boleh land.

I drive up to melaka for lunch every now and then when I feel like going for a long drive, never encountered any problems with robbers, whether uniformed or otherwise. There are a couple of new hotels with secure parking, and unless you drive something like an SLS, it's not likely yours will be the most ex car there. I've seen lambos in the car park. Check out Hatten hotel (can walk through the malls and exit near jonker.. air con all the way :P) or the Casa Del Rio (right on the river, 2 mins walk from jonker). Equatorial is getting a little tired..

I find driving up on a friday, leaving singapore around 11am is good.. traffic is super light, possibly because of friday mid day prayers, not sure.

There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full.

I had a week road trip with my family last dec.

Relax drive, was great!

From Tuas to KL condo parking 3 hours, stay a few days, drive up to Ipoh, stay a few days, Cameron highlands for one night, back to KL, then Genting highlands and KL before returning to Singapore.

Seen lots of Singapore cars along the way, fulfilling road trip ever!!

Just bear in mind to drive safe and you should be ok....

Why not lets have a Group drive.....Tuas-->KL---> Cameron Highland--->Singaoire

The world Most dangerous thing is the Vehicle. Its not about the machine weather its slow or fast. Its the person who is controlling it. The driver is the brain of the Machine. Not the machine itself.

If the driver reacts slow even the most powerful ABS(Auto braking system) will not help. The driver has to give the car the command in Order for the car to react. Afterall he is the brain of the car.

oh thailand! i would love to drive to thailand one day! to me cars are meant to be driven.

cars in SG so ex already, so the more we should use it..

some older friends of mine drove to Ko Samui in their Ferrari, Lambo, M5, Lotus etc. all back safe.

i drove to malacca park a few lot ahead of the restaurant i stop for lunch, come back car door kana scratch..

drove to KL, Genting no issue..

to me i think its a heng or suay thing.. (lucky unlucky)

imagine u have all your locks, he come at knife point and ask for your keys.. what are the options?

so to me its quite straightforward.. make sure my insurance is covered. they want my car just take and don't harm anyone.

end of the day i will still drive to malaysia.. just be careful =)

Want to have a peace of mind in any part of M'sia (even the deepest basement carpark) & have an eye watching over your beloved car literally from above?

I have spoken about this some years ago in this forum & others about my experience with all my cars with this device for more than 8 years. Some of my buddies here have fitted it with no regrets. This device can be carried over to your new cars.
