No issue at D mode but i doubt u can just drive all the way down without braking.

If u do let go of accelerator it will only rev 600-900rpm. for downhill just keep to the brakes, if still too fast for u. then consider not driving up.

The world Most dangerous thing is the Vehicle. Its not about the machine weather its slow or fast. Its the person who is controlling it. The driver is the brain of the Machine. Not the machine itself.

If the driver reacts slow even the most powerful ABS(Auto braking system) will not help. The driver has to give the car the command in Order for the car to react. Afterall he is the brain of the car.

You r going down hill. .. way waste petrol... switch off engine and let it roll down... use ur handbrake and drift... all else fail... stay at RWS Genting. ...

Previous ride is a crv.. Going down is smooth but I need to brake to slow down when turning. But for this, the engine brake is so high and rev is so loud. And infact is too slow for genting. Cars behind you will be piling up..shld I be stepping on the accelerator to go faster then? I always use to only let go accelerator and brake if too fast on my crv. For this let go accelerator will only have the engine brake on until car so slow and loud.

Hi,

Anyone try moving down slope over a long distance e.g genting highland?

If I leave gear at drive and let go accelerator, engine will rev quite high. What is a better way?

Put to n use and brake nia.... Brake pad cheaper than high engine rev... Standby ur hand at gear to shift to d whenever nearing hump.

Just drive as per yr previous technique will do and drive safely. Once there is opening in front of you then accelerate in this way you wont slow down the rest of the car behind you. Is a mercs so i dont think the performance is so bad till cause pile up. Is the hair spin turn is the concern so drive carefully when overtaking and always yr check left and right. Alot of kuku one will cut into yr lane during the turns!! Apart from the turning bend is fog then again without all these risk is boring driving straight roads :). Enjoy yr trip!!

Do not put Auto car into N gear, to TS, engine brake is the right way... A car or engine is not that fragile so drive it like a car... Keep left when not overtaking is always a good policy.

Always use engine brake when descending. Use leg brake sporadically. The brake gets heated up very fast and once it becomes too hot, it losses the braking power. I kanna before in my Hyundai trajet 10 years ago. Very scary experience. You know you are losing the braking power. I parked at the roadside halfway downhill to cool down the brakes

First time i go downhill at Genting, Im concerned about overheated brakes as well. Used manual downshift via gear stick. I was really slow and it was quite dangerous as I could only steer with one hand, with the other on the stick (no paddle shifters).

My shifu Takumi asked me how come I am so slow. Upon telling him my concerns and how I'm using manual shift, he laughed and told me " Son, you are driving a modern mar ser lee, not a tin can or car from 20 years ago. Just tap on the brakes and let the gear box do its own thing."

I followed his wise words and true enough no issues of spongy brakes at all. Now I could drive with two hands on the steering, concentrate on the roads ahead and keep a look out for kuku drivers.
