SKH

Before I got my car, I've already seen many SKD on the road. I thought I'd get SKD too or even SKE but ended up getting SKC.

I'm curious how it works. By right I should have gotten SKD. In the end, registered under SKC4000+. So in theory, there are older cars on the road than mine with newer car plates.

Those cars that you see on the roads are using bidded VRN. When a new series open for bidding, successful bidders will be able to utilise their VRN immediately.

However those getting from the allocation pool are usually one series behind compared to those who bidded, until maybe 1 month later when the old series are being used up.

Current registration number starts with SKH. How many months does it take to change? Any idea what the registration number would likely start with come March? Thanks.

Around 15th Feb, SKK serious would be available for bidding. If you take auto-allocation for you, in my guess, it would be SKJ serious around 3000 in March 2013!

How come SKJ. When are you getting your car?

Likely today. Actually LTA will announce the availability of next series in line for bidding exercise while they are still clearing up random allocation pool for current series. For example, SKJ series was released for bidding two weeks ago, while SKH was still allocating series 3000s. And thus, if you wish to have SKJ, for now you can only get it through bidding. The bidding period is from Saturday to Tuesday weekly. You can go One Motoring website to check on both current pool and the numbers available for bidding. There are still a lot of nice numbers left on SKJ if you interested. Good luck!

Sorry all, I'm not too familiar with how the COE thing works. So if COE bid is successful but car only comes in a couple of months down the road, does it mean that the car will  only be registered when it is here and that the registration number would reflect the time of registration or the point of successful COE bid?

Thanks.

Hmm Sound like u are trying to time yr register car nos. what do you hv in mind? Is the car nos or the alphabet is important to you? The car nos reflected at the point of time of register not after successful of COE bidding.

Thanks for the info.

Will be buying a coupe this week and as I understand, it will only be available sometime in March.
