Insurance for new Mercedes from C&C

Hi I am new here. Just checking with fellow forumers here.

I made booking from C&C last month, got COE from yesterday's bidding. Now got a feeling can collect car soon. But I have a question on insurance.

My SE encouraged me to get from Chartis which is their partner, so they can do all paper work together. But what I thought was I can get much cheaper premium outside, with about the same terms.

Question:

- How to get my outside insurance agent to do it for me? I need to provide engine number or chassis number right? But without new car, how to get this number? Issit get from SE as they should have already assigned the car to me already, hence should have the number?

- Why the SE encourage me to get from Chartis? Saying something about void warranty if I go outside workshop do, other than Chartis auth workshop? Maybe I didn't hear him clear enough over the phone, will need to find out more on this.

Do u guys and girls here get car insurance direct together with C&C when buying new car?

My 1st car with C&C : I got the AVIVA insurance on my own

Now my 2nd car with them: I took up AXA offer.

U just need pass your SE email or mobile to your outside car insurance policy agent and they will communicate with each other.

If I am not wrong Chartis offers a new car replacement during first year in case of a total loss claim.

Personally I would keep Chartis up to when my warranty expires as I would like to be assured that any repairs are done with authentic parts which would be the case as CnC is the authorised repair centre and my warranty will not be affected. Also CnC will take care of the whole claim procedure. To me peace of mind is important after an accident.

quick question on the authentic parts..

for example I do not want the Chartis offered together by C&C and I got my insurance myself from say Maybank.

When things hapen *touch wood*, I send car back to C&C for repair, why would there be a concern of warranty void or non-authentic parts? I am confused :(

You should check the terms of the policy - whether CnC is an authorised repair centre. If it is then shouldn't be any issue.

ohh now i think i get it... if the insurance company's authorised workshop does not have C&C listed, then it may mean I cannot claim if I go to C&C for repairs. And also means if I go to other auth workshop to have it repaired, C&C side will (may) void my warranty.. ?

Haha. I had a claim against and will only expiried next year march. So no choice to take outside insurance since that offer is cheaper than C&C and still affordable for me.

Dump AVIVA after 2 years with them since that claim against me

My Take:

I never take in house Insurance as they are damn expensive. I always buy from outside a lot cheaper and worth the "trouble", Actually no trouble at all!!! its simple

Just inform yr outside Insurance company and give them what every details you have Example E class 240 etc , (No need chassis or engine number at this stage) and the likely date to collect car. Yr Insurance company only need to Issue INSURANCE COVER NOTE to C&C by faxing over or email to C& C (say 1 day prior to collection) maybe now need Original Copy but also no issue as yr Insuarnce company just send a despatch rider to C&C. In any case yr Insurance company will liase to yr SE.

On warranty and Authorise workshop: Many Insurance Company cover AD workshop in the first year since its a brand new car. They actually scare if y dont go back to C&C.....haha. The Insurance Company i am with cover first 3 years at C&C with no extra.

Yes its true and the different i notice is Chartis provide NEW CAR if car kenna Constructive Total Lost (CTL) in first year. But yr Insuance company also cover upto market value.....Touch Wood...
