Hi all,

Need some advice here as I'm new to Cycle&Carriage policy.

Just collected my car yesterday and found that the car remote doesn't come with a car-finder function - that is, the remote button where you push and your car alarm will set off to help you find where you park your car.

I understand there's mixed preferences to this feature but I'm kind of used to it.

So, my question is, if I fix an after-market (simple) alarm, will it void the warranty of the car?

And, if any brother has done it, please kindly recommend brand, model, workshop for the alarm.

Thanks for viewing.

No, it sounds very soft ... barely hear it at some distance. Do you mean the honk loudness is user adjustable?

I find it too loud and attention seeking, so I switch it off. I don't think it is adjustable. Maybe if youadd more horns to your car.

yours does? mine doesn't leh..

Mine is controlled using dashboard computer settings.

Back to my original questions, can any brother share some lights? Thanks.

I understand there is no "search car" function from the original alarm. So I am enquiring if I fix an additional (simple) alarm that comes with that feature, would that void the C&C warranty. And, if any brother can recommend brand, model and workshop etc for that.

Technically, yes it can void your warranty, especially if spmething happens to the electrical systems and door locks. Fromwhat I have read so far, Cycle has been reasonable about these things but it hasn't gone down to the line yet and not having pushed them into a corner, we will never know how they will react. No one here can tell for sure if warranty will be void because it depends alot on your point of contact in Cycle.

If you do install an alarm. You might have to remove or deactivate it before going in for a claim.

Have not come across any modern Mercedes with aftermarket security system install. Dare I say IMHO, it makes the Mercedes brand feel very "cheap". But that's just my personal opinion.

2c here.

You could retrofit the original Merc alarm. Costs about 1000 Euros in parts.

It will add 2 buttons (disable/enable tow alarm, disable your alarm altogether) to your control stack in the centre, change the overhead lights (to include motion sensor. it will tell if someone break your windows and stretches their hands in), and some other shyt for the complete alarm system. Then code in the car computer and you are done

That is *Part 1*

You have to remake your Merc eyes to include the red "Alarm"/"Panic" button. So that acts as your car finder. Expect to pay about $500-800 to replace ONE merc key.
