How to hook up ipod in the car?

Driving a old 2005 E200ML.

Wondering if and how to replace the stock audio system with one of those all-in-1 video players.

Last year, I bought a china-brand player with 7" LCD for only $250 and installed into my Rush. It works brillantly. Bluetooth audio, DVD, SD/USB playback. Only draw back was i had to purchase an orginal Apple cable so that i can watch podcasts video via iphone to player. Apparently 3rd party cables only transfer audio but not video.

Any advice?

Get a all in one Kenwood touchscreen 2 Din DVD with Garmin GPS.

Beside DVD, U will have BT, Garmin GPS, USB & iPod.

Optional Reverse Cam, Dig TV, etc

This seller is Wee Heng same as AutoSpritze!

There are a few models which beside BT has Garmin Nav.

You might want to visit this seller!

They will have many options for you!

Look for Ah Boon or Ah Wee!

Just mention Mr. Seah refers U. :becky:

Hi guys.. have been using AUX in for ipod connection for my early 2011 W204 with Audio 20, but seeking to move to a better solution.

Will a cable like this be able to be installed and give me a single cable for (i) ipod charging (ii) ipod output (iii) control from screen or center display?

Abit lost and hope someone can advise..

A warm :welcome: to the forum!

Hope you enjoy your stay with us!

U are from Malaysia? :hand:

Write to Comand On-line with your car VIN and ask them if the iPod kit is suitable for your car. (They are nice folks - they do reply your quiries:becky:)

They will be able to tell and advise you by your vehicle identification numbers aka VIN aka chassis number

If it's suitable you will have steering wheel control and information of songs shown both on your Audio 20 & Instrument Cluster.

Another solution is to retrofit the UCI - Universal Communication Interface.

That will give you 3 choices of audio input

1. iPod/iPhone 2. USB (Flash Drive) 3. Auxilliary Input

You will have iPod/iPhone charging ,steering control, songs information display both on your Audio 20 & Instrument cluster.

This is the kit you should be looking at!

For UCI retrofit our site sponsors camber53 & ricric_lo should be able to do it for you.

kepiting1sg, thanks for the info! I got abit confused about UCI, UMI and ipod kit. :) I did DIY the audio integration previously for my other car with CANBUS system by ordering the parts online (with connects2 adapter), hence was just looking for this info.

The UCI does look appealing, however if need OS update, I guess I will need a local dealer's help! camber reached me via PM and gave me a quotation already. Now still thinking if the incremental cost to be able to select my music from the screen is worth it. :)

PS: I am from Singapore.

iPod kit is basically for iPod & iPhone before MB came with UCI & UCI+ which the later allows video input & audio streaming.

For UCI, I've successfully loaded up with 32Gb flash drive, so I can leave it "permanently" connected to the USB connections. Whereas with iPhone can be a little inconvenience of plugging & unplugging it.

UCI option comes with most of the new Mercs as std including PI rides.

U should be in good hands with Bro camber53.

Bros, just took the keys to a 2008 C180K. Quite disappointed when I realised that there was no AUX input (I depend on my iPhone to survive, and I'm quite pedantic about music quality so using a bluetooth connector is a no-no). Any recommendations? Don't want to spend too much also lah :P

Look for camber or ricky the command specialist to hook up the iphone setup.

Anybody know what i should do so i can play by inserting a thumb drive?

What ride you have and does it comes with UCI (Universal Comm. Interface) ? - The UCI comes with 3 cables i.e 3.5mm Aux, USB & iPod/iPhone.

If U do not have UCI other considerations for intergration will be either retrofit UCI or COMAND

Cheers

Bros, just wanted to update on my status. I thought there was no AUX input so went ahead to contact the command specialist for a quote. Realised that it was too pricy just to hook up the iPhone in my glovebox compartment ($1,XXX), so just completely forgot about it.

This evening, when I was taking out coupons, I was thinking about the 12V plug inside the glovebox and wondered why it was there. I remembered that the MB's iPod connector is inside the glovebox, so just turned on all the lights to tried to see if I could get lucky with an AUX plug. True enough, I saw one just next to the 12V and just connected a normal 3.5mm cable to my iPhone into that plug.

I next navigated to the Disc screen, and found an AUX selection WITHIN the Disc screen (when the disc was playing). Selected that, and guess what happened? Beautiful iPhone music running through the speakers! Sound level is lower than normal, so I had to turn the volume up but apart from that, no complaints man!

Just thought this post might be helpful for some of you out there!

May wanna consider belkin aircast to be connected. Music is streamed thru belkin to car stereo. Then u can also connect the phone to the car to use its bletooth so that u can use the steering wheel control. Sound quality is about the same. Just find the stock c200 speakers not very good...
