Hi seniors!

Had PM-ed a couple of you guys before I went down to take a look at the C180. It's really quite a good product.

However, here's the deal the SE offered to me (and it was so bad I'm definitely not taking it):

List price: 177,888.

Overtrade: Supposedly 10k, but figure he offered was only 2k higher than Volvo's offer, and the latter wasn't based on any overtrade. So nett overtrade to me was only 2k.

Service credit: 2k.

And that was all. Posting this not to rant, but because I'm really curious on the situation. May I check with you seniors, has CnC really clamped down on their discount structure? The SE said there's no longer any 8k discount off the list price. True/false? No additional discount on other aspects either.

At the end of the day, not hard-up to change my ride, so I didn't take the deal. My mental threshold was to get the "nett-nett" price down to around 150k, which I thought was a realistic price-point from feedback here. But since the offer was so far off my mental model, just wanted to find out the true picture. Don't know if my negotiating skills were bad, or the salesperson just didnt like my face. lol.

Would appreciate any feedback, thanks!

I think it's true. Heard my SE mentioned that C&C was going to up the selling price & reduce the discount given as well as the trade-in value. Largely due to the COE increase.

Welcome!! Whats yr present ride? I just traded in my Freelander 2, i did swim around to check out the trade in price. None came close what See&See can offer me!! If other marques can offer u better why not take the deal? The list price & discount is fixed & is a zero sum game. If u want another 2k then forgo yr 2k credit service. If you want a better trade in u got to take less on the so called freedies!! I got good trade in bcoz i forgo alot of freedies like film, reverse cam, credit service & the list goes on. I guess my negotiating skill is bad lucky u didnt pm me for advise . My previous E cabrio deal what i got is only IU cover with the wording "Mercedes Benz"!! Sad rite!!

Btw whats happen to the "rover for life"?? . Hope someone here can help u get a gd deal & hope that u can join the Mercedes family sooner!!

Hayato: Sounds more palatable than my offer! In your case, it means that they at least reinstated a discount of 5k for you, slightly down from 8k which was the standard previously. And instead of further dollars off, they gave you alot of toys to sweeten the deal! For your command online, is it ex-stock (Mar/Apr) collection, or is it the May/June batch? Did you choose from the limited colours?

And what is the 8 star collection service? Never heard of it.

Blackmercs: Re the rover in my userid - unfortunately it does not refer to the exciting machine you traded in... it refers to the once-proud football club now run by a bunch of Indian chicken farmers who have turned it upside down in the last year and who have employed a clueless goon as manager... =)

Mine will be Apr/May delivery. I was lucky that the color that I wanted have stock, and it comes with Comand Online. Was told that it includes built-in GPS.

The so called 8 star collection service is you can call C&C to collect and return your car for servicing.

Good timing!! is before the COE bidding. Now the entire package has been revised as yest i was at See&See to collect some of the documents. One of the buddy SE told me about it & yes, i left around 2pm plus the place is dead quiet.

The command thingy is a left over stock from the 125 years anniversary. No top up for the command too? Please pm the SE name to me.

500 service credits is too less and your dont have command right? you should ask for gps

Done deal still can ask for freebies but not much as your bargaining power has diminished greatly. Simple things like floor mats, maybe GPS, or MB shop voucher still can. However, service credits and discounts probably not as your SE need to clock these items into the Sales Agreement so I would think these are done signed and stamped.
