My W204 IU went dead this morning. Brought to STA @ Sin Ming and changed to a new IU. Technican mentioned that alot of W204 have the same problem due to power surge. He said something about diverting the power source or tapping another power source should solve the problem.

hey guys, i know you all are damn pissed with this IU crap..just to let you guys know, I've sent my car a record 5 times!! yup.. :tazzie: to fix the problem. Finally, i had enough of this crap and decided to bring the matter up to LTA. So this is what you guys need to do, the next time your IU aint working, call C&C customer service and they'll issue you a special IU from LTA..apparently they know about this ongoing problem..and its FOC only problem you have to wait.. :banghead:

My new IU is working fine so far - but the stupid thing has detached itself from the sticker...

Have to press the IU unit back onto the windscreen every time it becomes unglued $%)(^(#@#(

Latest Update on IU and Info whch may be useful:

My new car C180 (june 2009), IU faulty (IU is Old model and not the new model) on Thurs after 5 months, so went to STA Sin Ming and here what I discovered.

Upon arrival, the supervisor told me, many Merc having issues as Power supply was tap from car main elect source and not from aux source which resuted in power surge and damage the IU.

Here what they did, I am providing as much as tech details as possible so that who ever have same issue, MUST ask them to carry out the following:

1) Remove side plastic panel from Driver side that expose the electrical wires.

2) Cut off the existing supply (Which is from main electrical source and tape up nicely)

When going back for your nect car service MUST remember to ask CNC to remove this old reductant wire.

3) Tap and connect new electrical source from a Rectangle plastic electrical connector (about the size of say 50mm x 25mm- there are many existing wire connectted to this)

Wire must be "earth" as well".

4) Put back all parts. 20 mins and FOC

Ok all done.

I suspect that so many bros here many so many problems, cos the guys MAY have tap from exiting same source, again and again, so always short circuit the IU and didnt get to the root of the problem. Alternatively recommended to go to STA Sin Ming since they are familiar. Good luck.
