Petrol smell in exhaust

Recommended Posts

Hi sent my car (W212) for the 3-yr / 30k servicing (warranty expires 6 Jun 19).  Just wondering if it is common to have petrol smell in exhaust.  When I highlighted this problem, C&C says it's normal.

Another issue I would like to clarify is whether air-con chemical wash includes aircon filter replacement.  Still have the mouldy smell even after the aircon chemical wash and they say it's because the aircon filter was not replaced (I was not asked to change it when I sent the car in).  What is the purpose of the chemical wash when the very problem of the mouldy smell is not addressed?

Thanks in advance for any advise.

Best!

Not sure you are in similar situation, on my last ride(Toyota), I had aircon smells too shortly after despite chemical washed, at the end, it was confirm due to perfume gel used in the car, this was told by the SE...I was skeptical initially but it's true :P

Thanks for the reply.  Never had perfume of any form in the car except ioniser.  Have feedback to C&C and waiting of their explanation.

Thanks again.

Must change the aircon filter. Likely not part of the chemical wash package.

Most likely!

I never has to do chemical wash not even once before but I changed my air con filter twice a year

Cheers

I experienced very strong petrol smell at the rear of the car (2012 W204), probably from the exhaust, and sometimes inside the car from the aircon vent at times.  It turns out that the fuel high pressure pump has a leakage.  Had it replaced and no more petrol smell inside and outside of the car.
