Could the W211 kakis kindly list the likeliest problems one may face with ownership of these model(s) ? Service recalls and the like would be good as well. Thanks!

E200K M271

Minus:

Friends all say its father's Car (though for my case its somewhat true, though I clock more mileage :P)

no power at stock (well depends on what you are comparing it to)

Cannot get young girls (I prefer ladies :P

Plus:

Its the most beautiful E-Class so far (its subjective, though I prefer it over my old W210)

Drinks lesser then my old W210

Lesser road tax then its similar counterparts

Cruises beautifully

Points to note:

Must be careful about the gasket and front shocks. Mine broke and I had to send it in to C&C for the block to be taken apart. Front shocks were also giving weird sounds etc. Luckily its still under warrenty so just paid for the engine oil & oil filter.

old man car

- agreed, but until people hear the kompressor whines

- but must say merc is putting some effort with all the "sportier" styling

- mine also father's car, but mainly me clocking mileage

no power at stock

- compared to jap cars of around the same class, I presume can eat for 3 meals (however, I lost to a vios off the line ytd, in C mode)

young girls/ladies

- they must know how to appreciate!

taxi

- kana flag twice in one day (my w211 is silver)

looks

- people will give the "are you a taxi driver look" when you exit the car somewhere

- ok, seriously, will draw some weird looks(maybe cause I look too young. HAHAHAHA :yumyum:)

points to note

maybe just my driving style, but in S mode, foot has to be very light and controlled, if not car feels very jumpy

kompressor whine will bring irritation at some point of time, esp when you need to talk to a lady, can be solved with C mode and a light foot.

no technical problems as yet (10 mths with 38 000 mileage)

well heres me point of view from my dad's w211(face lift)

down side ... :swduel:

- lack of power when accelerating or a sudden power lost when dealing with uphill climb on expressway

- the brakes are abit sluggish at times ... must be depress deep down to stop ...

- the gear occassionally hesitate to change resulting in a sudden jerk ..

up side ...

- its very nice car to do cruising ...

- i think its good looking. its even better looking than the bmw :devil2:

- lower tax

- record of squeezing 6 frens in the car ... during CNY ... =D ...

- FC wise its better ... my avg is 11L / 100 km ...

Does anyone had any issues with the wipers? mine had some loud juddering noises recently. had the car for 1 month + (new E200K)..

I found that the windows are a bit sticky after I washed the car, it is because they had applied something (like Rain X etc ) to the windows?

How do i get rid of these stuffs?

Thanks

1) Did You or did you not apply rain X. ??

rain X will cos wiper to judder.

avoid using Wash and Wax solution to clean the car ... if u do ... avoid using it on the windscreen surface... cos its kinda sticks on the screen and create a blur effect when in rain.

However if you did use wash and wax ... you maybe which to do Rain X on passenger side & driver sides window + rear windscreen

this will somehow clear up the WASH and Wax sticky thingy stuck on the screens.

As for the front try use normal Glass solution or try autoglym windscreen polish to replica Rain X rain repel effect.

2) Removing of rain X?

You may wish to try autobac@ Ubi ....

saw their Adv there ... removing any chemical on ur screen @ 68 bucks ....

Not too sure of the end result ... so far heard no news from Forums as well ...

CHEERS mate ... :devil2:

I apply clay bar on the windshield from time to time; and it does clean away the dirt and stubborn stuff on the glass. (mine's a W124; but shouldn't matter, right? ::))

Clay bar can be found at autobacs or any detailing shop I guess.

Monday blues contribution..

P - Park (Pre engaged when you start and stop your vehicle)

R - Racing Gear (Extremely loud backfire when engaged at 160km/h)

N - Nuke Mode (Only used when Ferrari's and other exotics are present at the traffic stop light)

D - Drive (Normal)

S - Super Mode (Do you feel the rush in the gear change ?)

C - Cornering Mode (Try it on South Buona Vista Road, excellent here)
