Registration Year/Date for A180

Hi Bros,

 

Would like to seek your advice, SE says I may collect the car on 12 Dec 15, however, am thinking to collect on Jan 16 instead since merely 2 weeks or more away to Jan 16. If I were to sell my car e.g. 3yrs later, will the registration year/date impact on the selling price?

Doesn't matter. All depends on the car salesmen if need sales or not.

The trade in price/selling price of your car can be magically increased.

Just tell them to register the car in Jan'16... they can simply treat "COE unsuccessful" in Dec and success in Jan'16

I am collecting my car in January 2016 even though I already had COE secured. I spoken to a 2nd hand car dealer and he told me the trade in price does not matter much. They based on the months. But some told me if registered in January, the price will be higher. So not sure who is true.

E.g. your jan car should be 110k but Dec car selling for 100k, they will say 1 month can't be 10k more so your car will be 101k.

your dec car should be 110k but jan car selling for 111k, they will say jan 16 car is much "newer" can't be 1k more so your car will be drop to 101k.

Maybe when back in the days of the proper 2nd hand market it would matter but nowadays is madness prevails

this is a urban legend, but there is definitely more truth to it then people want to admit, just ask any SA, they will tell you less people want to register/collect cars in last 2 weeks of dec, vs first week of Jan

 

i also told my SA, i want first week of Jan, she told me super jam pack, kept asking if i am open to late dec, i said NO.

must be register first week 2016 not 2015.

The urban legend revolves around the issue of e.g. 2015 or 2016 registration... stranglely ppl do not get it that Dec & Jan of "1 yr" apart is no big deal while Jan & Dec of same year is a bigger deal.
