CLK280 Exhaust System

Hi,

 

My car comes with a modified exhaust. Not sure if it is approved by LTA. No document cos car bought used. I assume cannot pass inspection.

 

Can anyone advise me or point me to the most economical way (not idea) to move forward? My car is registered in 2008 so hope not to spend too much.

U brought the car from dealer or direct owner？

Which part of it is illegal? You might be able to buy that part, used, off eBay.

Could be the Muffler, (Missing) Catalyst, etc.

 

Furthermore, if you are caught, just say you just bought the car and you are taking reasonable action to procure a legal one.

Of course, back it up with eBay receipt or something.

 

Didn't get caught but I had to buy one pair of muffler off eBay.

I bought from dealer.

 

I saw Lorinser on the exhaust tips. So does it means I only need to change the exhaust muffler?

How much does a muffler cost?

Since you brought from dealer ask them for a certificate. If no cert, get them to replace with stock. You should send it for Vicom inspection before purchase

if you are not sure, drive it to the Ubi look for exhaust workshop for advice like Jeep Chee or FongKim. Could be only with the exhaust tip so no worries.

If you fail the inspection or caught by TP is your onus to replace with stock.

Received some advise from Fong Kim. Muffler is original.

Illegal because got 2 exhaust outlets (one left corner, one right corner). He say sure stop by TP.

 

$200+ to remove right hand piping. Once piping remove, chrome exhaust tips become dummy/decor only.

Real exhaust outlets will be underneath car and pointing downwards.

Like that can pass bi-annual inspection?

Or need to switch back to passable exhaust position for inspection then switch back to L R mod after inspection.

 

TP stop I not worried.
