  • 4 weeks later...

Bro i am thinking of changing my brake pad to ATF ceramic brake pad. Heard it has less dust.

Any experience kind bro can advise is it advisable?

Can i change original rotor with ATF brake pad?

I changed the front pads from MB stock pads to ATE Ceramic pads at 10,000km ago.

They are much less dust. I washed my car every two weeks, the amount of dust found on the wheels before I wash the car are about the same as the stock MB pads generate in two days.

However, the ATEs have less initial bite and more linear in braking power. It is neither better or worse, just different. I like it but some may prefer the stronger initial bite of the MB stock pads.

I changed the rotors (original MB) when I switched to ATE pads, no problem.

thanks bro for your kind advise.

however does it mean that you should brake earlier or harder than before?

Yes, ATE Ceramic is more progressive so you have to adjust the braking habit to brake earlier and press harder if you are switching from stock MB pads.

ATE gives you more control, my car park smooth concrete floor is extremely slippery when wet. The ABS always fire frantically when I lightly step on the brake (stock MB pads) before the speed bump. Never once with the ATE pads as I can modulate the braking force with greater precision now. The ride is smoother too without the sensitive initial braking force of the stock pads.

High speed braking on NSHW is the same as the stock pads, no difference.

I may made it sounds a bit exaggerate as I am a sensitive driver, to quote my wife's comment when I asked her about the braking feel after I switched to ATE, she said - "same same"

My rear pads are still running on stock MB pads (2nd sets), will change to ATE when they are due for replacement.
