What brand of engine oil do you use?

Recommended Posts

Dear Bros,

Happy new Year! May the year 2015 give you the opportunity to realise your dreams, rediscover your strengths and rejoice the simple pleasures that life would bring!

May I know what brand / kind of engine oil do you all use?

I just changed to this brand Kennol 5W-40 2 months back during my servicing and feel that the performance of the car is very bad.  The car practically has no power compared to when I am using Mobil 1.

Hence appreciate if you guys can share some experience on this.

IMO

For a new normal aspirated engine, 30 w is ok as the parts are new and tolerances are less. It does help the oil to flow into the parts that requires lubrication.

However, for super charge/turbo engine, the oil is too thin(Rem using 50w for turbo engine). Even so for an older engine when the tolerance of the parts get slightly more due to wear and tear and this can lead to oil consumption.

30 w oil does make the fuel consumption better & engine more responsive, however, being thinner oil, the barrier it creates is less between the engine moving parts.

40w is all round balance viscosity.

Peace.

i did notice a sticker in my car's engine bay saying Mercedes recommends Mobile 1.

Yup... I read on MBworld forum too... many recommand Mobil 1.

However heard that there are lots of fake Mobil 1 EO in the market... not sure true or not.

Not only fake Engine Oil Brand AKA fake Mobil 1....there are also fake Nippon Paint and fake Dulux Paint too....

Heard from industry players, these fake paints contain lead, which is harmful to our body when it oxidise.....

sigh.....

For those servicing at CnC you can request for Mobil 1 instead of Shell Helix - just top up the almost negligible difference.

The engine oil are not fake, just that it's recycled oil...

Engine oil nowadays can be recycled, just like our newater!

This topic very hot in mycarforum

Those selling singapore version of mobil 1 aka gold bottle version swear at those grey, green bottle imported by parallel importers/forum seller

Those have been using from parallel importers says there is no difference

but price wise, it is 50%

But some says if you used singapore version and engine got problem can sue mobil singapore

If used parallel importers one, no one to sue

But funny thing is that giants, ntuc extra also selling those grey/green bottles of mobil 1

so who is right, who is wrong ??

But I think all engine oill have some added recycled oil, just that we don't know how much

if these used oil cannot be recycle, the where they land up in ?
