Is your C&C warranty transferable to the new owner?

Recommended Posts

I am wondering, if you bought a used Merc and then go back to C&C for a warranty claim, can C&C reject you because you are not the original owner?

Or is the 3 year C&C warranty transferable to the new owner?

What about warranty for PI cars?  Is that transferable?
Would like to hear and learn from your actual experiences.

Thanks for the clear answer kepiting!

The reason I asked was because I have been offered a 10 month old W212 and I am worry that I might inherit a lemon.

I had another German make, bought new, had gearbox problem from the beginning, they kept changing the PCB but could not fix the problem.  After suffering for 5 years and about 30'000 km, I sold the car to an exporter who told me it will go to NZ.  I pity the next owner.

But now that we have the lemon law, warranties on big ticket items are important to me.

As for zjared, I recently bought a bicycle (yes bicycle! You have to pedal!) from a friend of a friend.  I called the local agent if they can service it for me and they immediately rejected me saying that they do not entertain if I am not the original owner.  Wah lao, just a bicycle but they talked so 'atas'.  Very TL, I went to my neighbourhood shop and got it serviced for a princely sum of $8!!!  The guy asked me the price and could not stop laughing at my stupidity paying so much for a bicycle.  So much for warranty!  But this is another story la.

If your car is from C&C, just go down to ask them whether its still under warranty even though its 10 months old.  Safer to check cos you won't know what the previous owner did, eg. certain major repair quoted and not done by C&C, they can void the warranty.

they won't share the info if in their records if u are not... until u can prove u are the owner.

even if u tell them u are checking before going to buy it..

been there for my ride.. it's like a leap of faith..

From my understanding, CNC warranties the car and not the owner....if they tell you otherwise....please look for a nice table to bang....

Spoon feeding teaches you nothing....but the shape of the spoon...

Yup, same thing happened to me, they won't say the history of the car but minimum try to ask if its under warranty if your car is less than 3 years old.  But they will tell you when is the last service and mileage.

For CnC, they won't tell you service history before you buy. But I asked and was given the last 3 service dates and mileage… so I figured from there whether there was any problem.

But once you own the car and you go there for service, you can ask the service advisor all you want about the car.
