Got booked by Volvo TP for a damn ridiculous reason .....

I got stopped by a Volvo TP along Stevens rd at 4pm yesterday and believe it or not the reason for my fine is they said>>>> i didn't have 1 car length when I filtered left for my lane change (Told some of my frens abt this and they bursted out laughing coz they never heard of such a fine before

one car length is v subjective . A chery qq & S class merc are all considered as 1 car length so what exactly is that dist for a car length, I am sure they don't have an ans for tt ... And the fact that he was at least 5 cars away how could he have gauge Tt distance ? And there's Sumthing called parallax error unless he sumhow was able to capture the exact distance I didn't have , it's really unfair to say I didn't have . In a traffic jam or when there are road obstacles ahead , pple filter left all the time and I have seen so many cases pple do not even have 1 car length during traffic jams .... So does Tt mean they can't change lane and have committed a traffic offence? I really want to get to the bottom of this. Traffic laws need to be reasonable and sound ....

They didn't issue me anything on the spot but he said I ll receive the summon in abt 2 weeks time via snail mail.

I came home supa pissed off and immediately I wrote in to give my particulars n all and told then what happened . Today I got a reply saying they ll look into this and gimme a reply soon .

So I asked him how could he have possibly see or gauge I didn't have that distance ? He said because he saw the brake lights of the car from behind . Seriously how can the rear brake lights of a car confirm that I didn't have at least 1 car length away ? That's totally baseless and unsound. Brake lights of a car able to tell u I didn't have sufficient space? There must be proper procedures/protocols for a summon to be issued no ? Bottomline is you can't fine sumone based on such assumptions when u weren't even physically close to see it for yourself !! I did proper signaling, checked my blind spot and made the change ..... something is seriously v wrong here with this particular TP s way of fining pple .....

Nowadays white ant are beri kind. I got speeding warning letter, caught speeding at 93km at Tuas (80km) else will be $130 fine and demerit 4points. Anyway, if the officer tell u that wait for letter meaning likely u will get a warning instead of fine. Maybe the officer wants your hp nos?

To be honest the TP sounded very stupid ... I really don't wanna use this word but can't think of anything more appropriate.

First qs I asked , he was 5 cars away during my lane change how could he have seen if I had the dist or now . His ans: oh coz I saw the brake light of the car directly behind u .

What kinda lame ans is that ? Ha ha can brake lights tell u abt car distances ? LOL

Second qs I asked , if I was already like 1/3 into the lane change and the car speed up on his own and he feathered his brakes. Is it my problem he had to brake and besides I showed my signal quite a while . His ans : he has the right of way even if he speed up . He did no wrong.

Then if he wants to speed up and brake , is it my fault ? If u see something infront coming your way do u speed up or u be more considerate as a road user to slow down a bit . TP is definitely not promoting considerate driving ethics which I do feel he shud as a traffic officer

All in all I felt bullied lar ! And like they are v Bo Liao got nothing better to do and act "intelligent" when their arguments are so flawed .

I wanna to bring this up to a higher level and I genuinely wanna know if I committed an offense ! It's not so much the fine and points . This is an abuse of power !!!!

Do u have an in car cam that captured the situation? Else it is your word against his. Nonetheless, wait for the summon. There should be a short narrative about your offence. From there, zero in and attack!

Hope it is not considered as careless driving (i think 3-6 demerit points) - when a vehicle has to break because of another vehicle changed lane "carelessly".

Lastly, this "offence" is quite obvious even from many cars away, we can see this happening once in a whilte.
