My highway is the CTE, so basically it's city driving. I don't travel on any other highways and am not going to let a few dollars to cramp my driving style! :P

R171 SLK200KA.

Around 11-13L/100km in City (depending on traffic condition)

7.1L/100km in Highway (constant speed 90km/h)

6.5L/100km in Highway (constant speed 70km/h)

All above are done with aircon on. Fuel consumption will definitely be lower with aircon off.

Hi all,

I am a newbie and would like to contribute (and hopefully get some reactions) my FC to date.

I have not completed a full tank drive yet, but my metre shows and average of 16.8litres/100km consistently. Mine is a C180K W204. If this is true, it's quite horrid isn't it? Anyone care to comment on the accuracy of the metre (on litres/100km as well as "Estimated Balance Distance left on fuel tank).

16.8litres/100km works out to be 5.9km/litre - this is the kind of mileage I used to get on my very old 1971 W123 which weighed like a million tonnes!

I was just wondering how a state-of-art technologically advanced engine like "kompressor" on a small car like C180K, which has the same weight as a feather, consumes petrol like the guzzling old man W123? I haven't seen anyone else complaining about this of the 204 yet, and I heard from the SE that the FC on this car is definitely better than all in it's class (BMW 320i, Lexus IS250, Audi A4, VW Passat, Jaguar X-type), which might imply that some of the other cars might do 3-4km/litre..gosh!

Your valued comments will be most appreciated. Many many thanks in advance.

No, i am not lead footed, in fact I am probably the most feather footed driver around. I hope this is due to the fact that my ride is still in the running-in period and so far, for the first 80km I have done on the car, it is mostly city traffic. And maybe, just maybe, the metre is not that accurate.
