SGMerc Members Fuel Consumption Rate Table

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm building a comparison table for fuel consumption . Members can use it for reference purposes. In which case if we see our FC is way higher than other owners of the same model, then we can deduce that something is wrong somewhere with our car.( I always think my FC is bit on a high side, wonder what other owners had on theirs).

There are many ways to check FC,

1) Fill petrol right to the brim and reset the distance meter, Drive untill petrol gauge reaches the warning light, that go look for a pump station, fill petrol right back to the brim. check your total distance travel to total amount(litre) pump in or total Litre pump in divide by 100.

Please state your Car Model, FC rate for city/highway here

I thought the MB way of indicating fuel consumption is l/100km? :P

My very rough averages are:

Car : Stock W203 C180K City : 12l/100km / Highway : 6.5l/100km

Best I have done for highway is : 6l/100km

Worst I have done for city is : 15l/100km

Good thread! I can only give very rough estimates for City and Highway, since all my driving is mixed.

'90 W124 E230, 8v engine

Mix = 9-10 km/L

City ~ 7 km/L

Highway ~ 11 km/L

'91 W126 300SEL

Mix = 7 km/L

City ~ 6 km/L

Highway ~ 8 km/L

300CE 12V 7km/l >:(

7Km for city? and your engine is M103 right??

12V M103 engine.

Hi oneoneeight - I guess we're running on the same base engine (M103 12V 2962cc). It's interesting to note the impact that weight has on mileage, at least for city driving.

The W126 SEL weighs in at a hefty 3,630 lbs (1,647 kg), while the W124 CE is probably a little lighter than a W124 sedan, which is 3,295 lbs (1,495 kg). That means we're looking at a 10 to 12% weight difference but 17% higher gas consumption!

For those who are interested to find out how much each MB model weighs, here's a link: http://home.hiwaay.net/~gbf/mbmodels.html

I've seen it go up to 23L/100Km if I floor the gas all the time though, guess it all boils down to how you drive.

Its also interesting to note that the w203 is the most efficient for highway travelling but for the city travelling.. all our cars are just about the same....NOT efficient.. HAHAHAHA... well that's what we need to pay for driving a 3-star car..

Now that petrol prices went up.. had anyone changed their driving styles? I now try to plan my routes more efficiently and try not to drive during the peak hours.

Neh still need to stomp my foot down on the accelerator pedal to get the car moving!!!!!!! Mileage on a tankful is thankfully still within reason even after swapping to 17s on the old girl.
