my hokkien english review of PlastiDip on my cheapy ride :)

Recommended Posts

hi bros, merczai here, long time no post liao!

First time doing a review cause i hardly mod car 1 . Haha ! so dun flamethrower me k? 麻烦各位大哥手下留情 .. although my angmoh not good but still wanna share.. so please bare with me .. kum sia  (:

p.s. : i use AUTO mode from my cheapo iphone 4 nia. hehehe!

so....... it started like this.. i saw someone posted say plastidip available in sg liao . so manage to chiong and buy 1 can for myself and start DIY-ing .. thinking it will be fun but its not.. so tiring and the end result disappointing.. aww.. look below.. haha .. yea i know ima noob! :(

as you can see.. first layer already cannot make it .. haha.. so skip it and move to end product..

purposely took from far but still can see patches of different contrast..

so i was kinda emo and when online to google for solution and i finally found a professional that will do the spraying for me! ( alamak , bodoh right. should have google it in the first place. lol ) so i sms him to see if he's free and luckily he super kind .. say will manage to squeeze a slot during the evening for me . hehe. went down and was greeted by a cheeky but super friendly guy name gibson  :D explained to him that my DIY failed and after teasing me non stop..  we get down to work. haha.

due to the crappy quality of my DIY spraying.. the plastidip is not stick together so he cant peel it off easily.. then he spend 30mins trying to rub away the dip on the grille till his fingers start to have blisters. so he decided to try another method..
img2714f.jpg
taadaa!!! water jet the grille!!

and after another 45mins - 1 hour of water jetting and rubbing with mircofibre towel the grille is back to normal.. im really impressed with his customer service and patience .. i told him that he could use thinner or another stuff to remove it as it will be faster but he insisted on doing the tough way so that it will not damage my existing paint and coating.. thumbs up for him man ! pei fu pei fu!  :thumbsu: so decided to dip more since im already here and i met a great guy .. hehe
img2718.JPG
decided to do the side trimming for fun, this is the hardworking gibson at work :P

cut story short .. he started to apply first layer of coat on my grille.. and im so embarrassed as compared to my DIY job to his..
img2719d.jpg

so cheeky gibson ask me how is his workmanship.. haha !
img2716k.jpg
i told him it was about the same as mine ! ( of cos i lied to him.. im super impressed la ! )
ps theres a tiny hole on the left of the pic. thats stone chip from previous msia run :P

oh ya!! so after hours of work , its dinner time.. so he ask me to order mac and he treat !! wa lau.. he give me a super cheap price still wanna treat me eat i dam pai seh.. but i thick skin la .. still accepted . jia lat.. haha !! where to find this kind of generous guy and do lugi business.. hehe! okok.. cut story short again.. end product taken with crappy iphone.. as its on auto mode.. so some got flash some dun have.. haha ! enjoy !! hope can clearly see the chio smooth toufu-like workmanship :D

p.s. : i dont work for this guy and i dont earn any commission from him.. just wanna share with all of you my cheapy mod and intro a great and excellent service / workmanship guy that i found . also dun go demand for dinner when you all visit him else he will kill me. hahaha! my project hasnt end as he ran out of plastidip so those who wanna do have to wait till he have a shop opening in may :D

mods / admins if any of the details or text offended or violated the rules let me know and i will edit away k :) as its my first time writing a long compo.. dunno got any parts or pics not allowed.. haha .

kum sia orhmerc ! haha definitely i will .. actually for poor boy like me .. cheaper stuff i will go for it le .. haha. i Think plastidip should be  cheaper than spray paint and i can change colour whenever i want. lol.. but cheap doesnt means no good right :D your pantry auntie sms tell me 1... oh ya .. got warranty too. LOL!  but still not sure how long he intended to give.. currently mine is few months ;)  but after all the talking, still have to QC for at least weeks to months then can confirm + chop chop its worth the monie :D my another friend DIY dip his rims then straight away next day kana kerb rash but hear say he dip it thick enough(6-7 layers) and prevented it from damaging the rims. so lucky.. wanted to dip my rims but need approval leh.. sian la. haha! some more i think if spray by workshop the price is count by spoke -.-'' more spoke = more exp. maybe harder to spray .. so im gonna refill my piggy bank then see how again !!

definitely a yes....cos he spent so much time typing all these leh LOL

lol idiot la you . humph !! *kok* from maeryn~ hahahahahaha!!!

Haha. Tiger i really cannot make it la. Too tiring. I follow the instructions behind and sit in mscp for 4-5 hours. Sweat like hell some more still have to squat and spray till backache. DIY is not for fat ginna like me :( or maybe only me. Lol. If not will offend a few chubby peeps :P

Can export that guy to Iran for making stealth bomber look?

Just asking because Iran has many Mercedes Benz that need blacking out service.
