Just dropped a Simota intake into my E250 cabriolet, gosh the power difference is kinda huge! You guys should try it! Well worth the money!

1. I am confused by your 2nd pic. In the 2nd pic, you are routing the simota airbox to your original airbox.

 

2. Is the air filer in your original airbox removed?

 

3. Did I notice correctly? The simota airbox is not fitted to the original cold air intake funnel, just best-effort aligned?

Lolz !! Bro u should stick to the pic 1 setup, then do a tee joint for the stock air intake. The top air intake remain unchanged, the tee joint pce set it up like CAI which air intake from bottom. This way, u got more air intake and this translate yr car can "fly faster". Just curious, why u want to change to the second setup?.

Lolz !! Bro u should stick to the pic 1 setup, then do a tee joint for the stock air intake. The top air intake remain unchanged, the tee joint pce set it up like CAI which air intake from bottom. This way, u got more air intake and this translate yr car can "fly faster". Just curious, why u want to change the second setup?.

 

Jaxon - basically, you bought a closed airbox system, which is suppose to perform similar to the original stock closed airbox. The difference is whatever simota stuffed inside, as the air filter.

 

In your 1st pic, it looked like your airbox will suck air from the engine bay. Frankly, I suspect blackmerc's open pod filter works better than a closebox sucking engine bay air. 

 

The workaround is like blackmercs mentioned, find a way to route cold air to your airbox. Tee joint is probably not the best idea as air flow will be abrupt but the engine bay has limited space. Will need to examine the entire setup carefully.

Bro i connected the Simota to the original airbox (filter removed), cause i din't get the tubes. then if set up as the 1 picture, i feel like its sucking in the hot air from the engine bay! Think method not really recommended right? yeah im finding the flexible tube to connect to the original funnel! so currently is like best fit of what i could find!

like a CAI means what uh? Cold Air Intake? But stick to Pic 1, is like suck hot air back in right? change to 2nd setup cause can take in more cold air, right? ^^ And some more uh, put in front right, out side can hear the whistle louder lehhh! Eh, btw sorry last time i ask so many things about your intake...

Lolz yap CAI is cold air intake, in order not to suck in too much hot air place in the engine area place the tubing at the bottom or get the heat insulation. Will explain to u when meetup for yr decal collection. Anyway, good mods!!

pic2 - half-fark job on CAI. instead, get the diameter measurements of the stock pipes and your simota closebox. go around hardware stores and source for flexible, high heat resistant tubes + ring fasteners. the proper tubes. u can then make a U joint from engine to closebox + connector to the stock funnel.

therafter, u can further reduce heatsoak by wrapping the pipes with heatshield material. it may not look nice but it will work better.
