audio 20 iphone 5 compatible?

Hi Noobie here.

I have just bought a 2nd hand e250 coupe, 2010 model, and i think the name of the console is Audio 20.

I retrofitted some media interface iphone cable (original merc part, cost me $1800) and it seems to work with iphone 4.

 

but when i try to clip on the adaptor (30pin to lightning), Audio20 wouldn't detect it!

Even when i change the cable to usb, link it to a lightning cable, the console will say device not compatible.

 

it's kinda important to me to have the system able to play the songs n charge the phone as I'm always on the road, always using google map.

 

Any help rendered would be appreciated.

I tried to search but seems like most discussion are onto Command console....

it can link with bluetooth for the telephony, but not music. think mine is called the command APS. i wonder if theres any bros here who is having the same problem to link their iphone 5 to the console

Did u use the genuine 30 pin to lightning adapter from Apple that cost SGD48? Somehow Apple embedded some chip in the tiny adapter to ensure compatibility of iPhone 5 with your previous ancillary devices. It happen to me, I refuse to pay the ridiculously expensive adapter from Apple, ended up, the much cheaper 3rd party adapter only work for charging & iTunes connection.

For me, it doesn't work for iPhone 5 using the chiong 30 pin to lightning adaptor. Not sure if it works using the original.

yeah thats the problem, i also use the chiong one. the chiong one connect to computer no problem. but doesnt seem to work with the media interface. its a catch 22 situation, do i spend the $48 for the real just to end up with a lemon if it still doesnt work?

the cable cost $58. with a 20 cm wire to the lightning head. super ex for cable.

 

Yes it works!!

u can also control from steering wheel and even from the iphone player itself.

 

however the wire is too short from glove box to dashboard. now try to find from the market whether got extension lightning cable.

Apple shop says they dun sell, and the chiong ones might give problem again....

Thanks for sharing. So is it a one piece adapter with 20 cm cable or is can be dedetchable? Got a brand name?

My original 30-pin to lightning adaptor doesn't work with my iphone in the media interface. It keeps saying device unavailable, intermittently. It did work initially when I first got it.

In the end i brought this cable from taobao,1.2m long, combined with the original adapter from apple, 30 pin to 8, with no cable.

Been using it for the past half year on an iphone 5.

Can view as gps, charge my phone, play music , control from steering etc. this is probably the best option now. Mercs cable is far too short so have to keep in glove box but luckily china ingenuity produced a 1.2m version so it can lead out from glove box to ur hanphone holder. Will upload some pics for ur reference soon

Do you have the media interface jack? If I am not wrong stockist do carry.... If u need the part numbers I can give you otherwise eBay do carry them as well

the original cable is too short so it has to be left in the glove box when charging. or u cant use goggle map when driving, which defeats the purpose of having a smart phone. also u cant see ur messages,

 

 

this is my set up. I bought the cable with a 1.2 m from taobao(see earlier post) lead it from within the glove box to outside. so i can fidget with while driving.

this is the original adapter i bought from apple. only original ones will work! cheong/ah beng diam types won't work at all!.

I didn't get the adapter with the extension wire as it is still too short. since I have already gotten the long merc car cable from the glovebox.

so I find this setup looks best in terms of minimal clutter and usefulness.
