just to seek opinion - if we have StarAssist, is there a need for AAS membership?

My SE told me that StarAssist basically offers the same support as AA.  It is only valid for the first 3 years though, so many need AA after.

 

StarAssist is also available if driving in Malaysia.  

 

Because of this, I did not sign up as AA member.
