It shd work in any tunnel even though there's no signal. The Comand Navigation uses the wheel rotation & steering ( factory calibrated) to continue the function. If it's not working, the installation is not complete.

Jtang is right. It will still work anywhere that there's no satellite signal, tunnel, basement carpark, multistory carpark, etc. Mine is retrofitted too. Double check again, if problem still persist bring back to the installer.

Hey there are others who are not factory fitted yet works too!

Yup! Mine! But that was after months of trial and error, going back and forth to the workshop numerous times hard work as no installer at that point had successfully retrofitted NTG4.5, guinea pig!

Retrofitted system based on which installer you go to gets installed differently using different techniques. Even the maps used slightly differs from installer to installer. This is due to the enhanced electronics found in the latest Comand Online NTG4.5. In order to by pass the security system, ingenious ways have to be used to "break Mercedes code" as they try to clamp down non-authorized retrofits. It isn't as easy as plug and play anymore as compared to previous Comand systems. Based on how the system is retrofitted and setup, certain functions might or might not work such as the Online Internet Browser. Best to clarify with the installer about it, last I heard only one installer is able to "officially" retrofit it with the whole system working and functional.

Keep us updated!

Arshavin's COMAND NTG 4.5 is original from his previous ride. Therefore when his unit was reinstalled to his new ride, the COMAND has to be programmed for the new ride to accept it. His old map was also tied in with his previous ride and he has to get a new map "key" / "pin" to reinstall his SEA Maps. My COMAND was purchased from his installer and everything works including Navigation in the tunnel.

does he have video-in-motion bypass installed? from what i know, if the VIM hack is active, the navigation will stop working. at least that's the case for mine.

it's either nav or VIM.

Yes! That's correct! When VIM is ON - Navigation is known to be not working. When U are Navigating I dun think U should be watching DVD.

I took out the VIM (Kufatec) after 1 week of use. Don't be deceived, it will still interfere the navigation even when it's off though to a lesser extent. When it's left on full time, lagi worse!

I am told yours was surgically removed  My NTG 2.5 with VIM (Kufatec) does affect the Navigation in KPE to a certain extent. So far the VIM on the NTG 4.5 is OK in OFF mode. No problem at all! Have not try on ON mode!
