Standard offset from stock rims is +45.

The acceptable range varies greatly and is dependent on your rim width and tyre width as well. Also, whether you lower your ride or not will affect the maximum width you can go. I would think you are looking to achieve the "flushed" look?

Probably you can start by sharing what size are you looking at (17", 18" or 19"), going for staggered setup or not, and whether you plan to lower your ride before i can advise further.

This afternoon, I was checking a set of used 19" Mandrus (staggered, fitted with used Conti Extreme tyres) for W211. Asking price is reasonable and fit W211 nicely. I am currently on 16" stock rims with CPC2 tyres.

  • But, can a W211 (1.8L) capable to pull these 19" ?
  • Do I need to adjust/change suspension to maintain comfort level ?
  • Any members have experienece to share ? (if sensitive to publish, please PM me)

16" to 19" is a great jump, and definitely a big sacrifice in terms of comfort level. You will also lose out on the pickup/acceleration based on similar rims. However, what you do gain is the handling, especially at corners a set of staggered setup will really shine. Also, 19" are really eye catching and good looking on a W211.

Stock suspension of Mercs are already comfortable. Not too sure if there are any aftermarket ones which are even more comfortable/plush.

Maybe you can consider 18" , i think its the best compromise between looks, comfort and performance.

Just wondering any difference between 225/40/R18 vs 225/45/R18?

The manual recommends 225/40/r18. But just wondering getting 45 be quieter and better cornering.

Usually getting bigger rims is to clear BBK, but of cuz for aesthetics too.

To improve cornering you will need wider rims and tyres. Typically ppl go for staggered setup, wider rear wheel gives better traction too

Saw on the manual. But they give specific ones.

Since we on suspension. Other than lowering the car to look nice.

Does the suspension give better comfort?

Contrary to what you think, lowering springs or coilovers will make your ride harsher. Unless you specifically look for "softer" springs than stock to improve on comfort, else typical springs or coilovers will be harder than stock, and you will be able to feel the bumps and unevenness on the road.

What you do gain however is improved handling. Stiffer springs will reduce body roll while cornering too. Also, the look of your ride after lowering is :thumbsu:

The first time after i changed my springs and did a high speed cornering, I was amazed at the difference from stock
