By looking at the Oil Viscosity Chart, in sg( tropical country) we should be using 20w50. However I noticed everyone are going for

0w30 or 0w40. Any special reason for choosing such a cold temp Engine Oil? Can any Bro share some info or knowledge please?

Thanks in Advance

0w30 has a lighter more sprightly feel and the "free flowing" feel usually equates to better fuel consumption or slight gain in power because the oil is thinner.

Engine oil is a grey area like all other automotive fluids/oils. Brand A's 0w30 vs Brand B's 0w30 can behave entirely different under certain operating conditions. Oil enthusiasts will go as far as to send the oil for analysis in order to determine how well the protection levels have been offered over a certain mileage.

Again, depending on how high strung your engine is i.e, boost levels, high compression, one will need to run an appropriate oil and possibly additives to maintain consistent temperature and shear stability levels for the life of the oil.

Our climate + start stop city traffic is pretty harsh!
