Blackvue DR400G problem

Installed it last night, went out for a spin to get some recording and at the same time hope to set the angle right. This morning plug the card in and here is my findings;

1. The vertical angle is OK but the horizontal angle captured more right side view then left, off center, anyone encounter this before and how to tilt it ? I installed the unit in such a way that the camera lens is at the center of windscreen, the mounting base is off center towards the right side, maybe due to the slight curvature of the windscreen it is only natural that the lens now point more toward the right side.

2. Playback : the first 20 sec out of the 1 min recording is always jerky, anybody encounter this before ?

3. Date/Time/ GPS : I was told once the unit is ON it will automatically update the date and time via GPS, my unit show year 2010 after some recording last night, there is no display of speed and location, so my GPS is OFF ? I flip over the software but couldn't find a GPS on/off selection , hidden somewhere ?

Appreciate your input...Thank you in advance.

Bro

1. I suspect the lens is off-center. I believe through trial and error, you should get the angle and alignment right. The guy who installed my Blackvue used the reverse camera to set the camera.

2. Try upgrading the firmware. The current version is V1.037. Download from http://www.blackvue.com.sg/download.html

3. I suspect your region setting is incorrect. Set it to Singapore. Speed and location display can be set from the software that comes with the micro-SD card.

Good luck!

Thanks for the information. Firmware already V1.037, region also set to Singapore, now try to format the SD card and see how, the first time I power up the unit was without GPS signal ( indoor ), wonder if this is the reason. Try my luck again.

When indoors, the satellite signals are blocked so you will not have any GPS signals. Once you move your car out into the open, the GPS would be able to acquire the satellite signal and give you proper readings. However, just like any other GPS units, it'll take sometime to acquire the correct signals when you turn on the device for the first time. Subsequently, it should be a lot faster.

Have been using my BlackVue now for almost two weeks. No issues with it so far.

Not so sure if the time setting program work on the DR400G, which obtain time / date via GPS...anyway let me see if the GPS work or not if not then I try the time setting program. Actually I don't want the file to show speed, just date and time enough, sure most bro here feel the same hehe..

Go download the card formater software from Pittasoft website.

Do a full overwrite formatting!

For 16gb will take some hrs to complete for a full format.

The latest software is version 1.038.

After format & update software, reconfig your settings & save your settings.

Go to your car with the card & wait for it to reboot & for the software update to take effect.

Drive a few rounds to see if your GPS is working.

If it's working, the gps light on the Blackvue will be lighted up.

I m on software 1.037 for both my DR400G and running happily for many mths now.

My front on a 32gb card records in Parking mode for 6 hrs.

IMHO running a battery below 12V not very "healthy" if U want your car battery to last longer.

My rear on 16gb, I don't do recording as usually my Kar chng is backup to the wall :)

Been there done that le, formatted the card, reload V1.037, reboot, still no GPS signal after driving for 30min, I even extend the unit out of the car for 5 min, just to rule out my solar film is not the culprit. Now I know why le, I'm just suay to have a faulty unit that's it.

Anyone using Finevu CR-300HD ? 5m pixel cam no GPS, consume less power with built in cut-off when battery fell below certain voltage. Price is higher than Blackvue, about $400. I don't quite like the video quality of Blackvue, wonder if the 5m pixel helps.

Oh yes, the time setting program does work on DR400G.
